Over on ENWorld, it is saying FFG re-upped their Star Wars license. I hope they got the permissions to sell PDFs. I would rebuy all the books as PDFs.
FFG’s Star Wars License
I'm happy with this decision (though not surprised). You can tell that FFG is really handling the license with love.
The part confirming Ep. VII material is noteworthy as well. I'm cautiously optimistic about TFA, and if the sequel trilogy is as good as I hope, I'm not even worried that FFG's treatment of it will be first class.

I never doubted it. When that French private hedge fund bought FFG I found it highly unlikely they would have made that purchase if they didn't have some idea FFG was keeping the license.
Between GoT and Star Wars, FFG is just God Moding the crap out of my wallet.

I believe that for some strange reason FFG publishing PDFs and charging money for them would somehow break the terms of the EA gets to do all non-mobile Star Wars console and PC games deal.
I'm glad to hear the news though. FFG has done an incredible job of creating brand new Star Wars ships that I love for EOE and I'm grateful they will get the chance o continue.
And it looks like soon AOR will get some of the new ship love. (So far every AOR ship model I know of has been a canon or EU design though some have never had any significant level of detail until FFG released them., EOE on the other hand has had a least 1, and usually more, FFG created designs per sourcebook. But the upcoming Strongholds of Resistance book mentions a design which I'm pretty sure is brand new.)
Believe me, if FFG has renewed their license to include pdfs they will announcing loud and long in regards to Star Wars. Good news though.

Good point about the PDFs, though FFG's not made any "official" announcement on the license, so could be that they're holding off on confirming "yep, we've got the license for a good long while" to iron out a few more details. Or so one can hope.
Very smart to hold onto this license, FFG definitely has some great things going for them with X-Wing, imperial assualt and the tabletop rpg.
IMO though the tabletop rpg situation is rather convoluted. after Force & Destiny is released they should consider a revised rulebook that combines all of the classes and other rules into an easier to use and reference format. The way they went about it was rather poor and awkward, IMO, even if the system itself has been a hit with fans.
Someone coming into the game is going to see these 3 massive rulebooks on the shelf and not know where to begin.

I think they should begin with whatever they like best… To me the system is great as it is but I “grew into it” so I can’t objectively imagine how a newbie would feel. If I would venture a guess, three books isn’t that daunting a prospect though.
Perhaps a Players Guide is in order.

Don't hold your breath on this.
Any compilations, careers, species, creatures, droids, equipment, ships, etc. will in all likelihood come after the release of many books yet.
I rather like the three book format. The Reason behind that is this: It is easier to have mutliple books to look after some certain rules or buy standard equipment.
Let's say you're the GM, and the only owner of the three CRBs. Now you have over three players, eager to make characters. You have three books to choose from when it comes to standard equipment and the rules to make a character. You can give every player the book most relevant to his ideas.
So yeah, I really like that. And in the same vein I don't like the idea of a combined rulebook. It just get's torn apart again.
Ditto. I prefer a game system that allows Players and GMs to focus on a particular area of the setting rather than trying to shoehorn disparate character types together.

Even then, I wouldn't expect such compilation books to come out until FFG's decided they've pretty much done all they can for the product line and are looking to bring it to a close, whether that means they'll have lost the license several years down the road, or they're closing out the current system and ramping up for a new edition; they released a career compilation book for Warhammer Fantasy Role Play 2nd edition as the final book before releasing WFRP 3rd edition.
