Any experience with this dude? I mean, no matter where you drop Them, bombs are still pretty **** expensive.
Emon
I have had some success with Emon. Bombs are expensive but it doesn't mean you have to take a full load of them. Bombs also give you potential automatic damage or the ability to damage your opponent twice in the round with one ship.
I use him in a dual Firespray list, he was a lot of fun. Andrasta title with one of each:proton, seismic, and prox. Emon's 3-turn template bomb deployment is crazy fun, and still being able to use a 1-straight keeps it interesting. Once dropped a proton before dial, then prox with an action on the same ships.*
Expensive? Yes. But no price is too high... For the smiting of one's enemies.
*Thanks to ForgottenLore for pointing out that I was interpreting max bomb drops and prox mine multiple-ship hits incorrectly!

I wouldn't under estimate bombs. They are much better then torpedoes or missiles.

I agree. That is a good write up.
Bombs can be solid if you have a good eye or a high PS. I think the reason we don't see them a lot is because it's something of a gamble to rely on either of those things, and good players always want to take the most consistent cards/ships available to them.
Nothing beats the look on a Fel player's face as you are rolling for the Proxy Mine.
Bombs are all about skill. If your running a High PS ship then Proton Bombs or seismic charges are fantastic buys. Low PS ships lets you use Proximity mines very effectively. The only draw back to prox mines now are that you roll dice.

I thought that you can only ever drop one bomb a turn?
Once dropped a proton before dial, then pros with an action on the same ships.
Hopefully not in the same turn since you can only drop one bomb upgrade per round.

Correct, but I believe skullcat means 3-turn as in three consecutive turns of bomb deployment, not three bombs in one turn.

I think he means this:

Or that.
I used Emon last Saturday and tried the Slingshot. Great fun. Took two proximity mines and placed each of them just right.
Biggest problem with Emon the 6 pilot skill and NO EPT slot. 6 Pilot skill is a killer on bombers. So you throw one bomb to my left I boost/barrel roll/decloak to the right

That line had nothing to do with the comments about multiple bombs. He said
Once dropped a proton before dial, then pros with an action on the same ships.
And assuming "pros" meant "prox" it implied he was dropping both in the same turn. The turn 3 comment was irrelevant and obviously referring to Emon's ability.
Come to think of it, that line also implies that both bombs are hitting multiple ships, which would also be incorrect. Proximity Mines can only hit a single ship, no matter what.
Don't know if he actually made those mistakes, but the line quoted above sure implies it.
With the wording of Proximity mines the dice should be rolled by the person taking the hit.. at least that's the way we run them..
I ran Emon yesteray and had great fun dropping prox mines, I had 3. Killed Soontir Fel in a high damage roll .. was a demoralizing hit for my opponent, he lost the game, and I had drpped all my bombs damaging another ship significantly.

Absolutely NOT TRUE. PS6 is perfect for Emon, so long as you take a mixed loadout. You're moving after a low PS ship that's on your six? Drop a Seismic Charge. You're moving before a higher PS pilot? Proximity Mine their ass.
Also, note that Emon does have a crew slot - for a measly point an intelligence agent is not a bad plan, as this helps duck the issue of pilot skill.
..and an Illicit Upgrade slot.
*sigh* Scum Firesprays are amazing.

That is what proximity mines are for. If you are within range 2-3 of Emon, there are very few places where he can't hit you with a proximity mine before you activate.
In my last tourney, I one shot Soontir in exactly this manner.
Yep, the Proximity Mine "Slingshot" tactic works best against HIGHER PS ships (especially low health arc dodgers who rely heavily on their evade dice).
Seismic Charges and Proton Bombs are for lower PS opponents who manage to find themselves tailing you before you move.

Ah, thank you, ForgottenLore... I did mean 'prox' and using Emon's 3-turn template for the bomb drop.
I also thought you could only drop one 'before you reveal your dial' bomb, but still drop a Proximity Mine later with an action.
Demmit... I am also wrong about Prox Mines hitting multiple ships, as I had dropped it on top of two ships, assuming it would immediately detonate and damage both ships.
Not certain either of those rulings make sense to me, but now I know and fortunately I think I just did it once right after Scum released. :
In my last podcast I said that Emon was a dud, but I don't think I could have been more wrong. He's so good, and there's a lot of great ways to kit him out. I think bombs are very strong in the current meta. High agility arc dodgers hate proximity mines, and firesprays are solid ships that will last long enough to drop those mines.

Yup. Trust me, read Hothie's article. After just a few plays, his ability to hit you with a Proxy mine is amazing. Once one gets really skilled, oh man...
