In lack of news I'm going to assume that Wave 7 was ready for the announcement shortly before Wave 6 hit, but instead they simply held back the announcement and are proceeding with production anyhow - so if that were the case then I'm going to further guess that it's at the printer right now.

I would expect the announcement for Wave 7 to occur once it's on the boat but almost here, so they can be like "Yo yo yo look at this stuff! It'll be in stores next week!"

I just want to see new Advanced pilots

Playmats that will sell in small quantities are not entire waves. Even though Alex D has said that they are working on Wave 8, implying that Wave 7 is done (at least from his participation), I really doubt we will hear news on it any time soon.

That's because FFG prints the playmats at their own factory in Minnesota — they can fulfill an order right away and ship it right out. The miniatures, on the other hand, are made in China and shipped across the Pacific Ocean in a process that takes months.

I also think ffg knows most of us are buying multiple games (imperial assult/armada) and don't want to flood the market and end up competing with themselves. I honestly don't think we will see wave 7 till end of the year.

TL;DR: not at the printers, but probably ready in the next 2 months.

My understanding I'd that they have the "wave" done- meaning things like ships, pilots, stats, etc. But I know they have _also_ designed things to (for instance) Nerf the big turrets. They don't actually want to do that, and so they're in wait and see mode with wave 6. The exact composition of Wave 7 (in terms of EPTs and upgrade cards) will depend on how well Fat Han etc are doing over the next month or so.

I also have a sense that the Tie Bomber was supposed to be a soft counter to the Han Shot first/Tie Swarm era. So anything that helps the Tie Bomber will double as a turret Nerf. But again: wait and see.

(The above is mostly me reading between the lines of what FF have said about their plans, fears, and how they operate. It makes sense of the idea that they're nearly done with Wave 8, but haven't revealed anything about wave 7.)

X-Wing is 33% of FFGs sales. There is ZERO chance they are going to hold off on releasing a Wave that is completed and ready for production (Alex Davy said Wave 7 is ready) and hold it for 8-9 months. No way is that happening.

And I also highly doubt that "most" X-Wing players are also buying Armada and Imperial Assault. Out of our FLGS group of X-Wing players (25-30) only 5 bought Imperial Assault and about 10 are buying Armada. Those games don't automatically appeal to someone who plays X-Wing.

We'll see Wave 7 by GenCon. They have released a Wave at GenCon every year.

Unless Wave 7 coincides with EpVII .. and their SW/Disney license prevents them from releasing information until a later date. BUT, printing may still be going ahead.

I personally like the lapse in information though. It seems silly to be getting all hyped over the next big thing while we're still waiting for the last big thing.

One thing that people aren't considering is the impact on retailers - particularly the small specialist retailers who are the lifeblood of gaming.

For the first time since...... ever, there is plenty of stock of just about everything, and LGSs have full shelves, but have invested some pretty serious coin in getting it that way.

I can think of at least one LGS that would be very happy if FFG were to spend the next month or so pushing Armada instead of X-Wing so he can get his investment back on X-Wing and start selling Armada without his customers feeling like they've got to choose between 1 or the other.

A little silence on the XWM front would help him no end in that regard ( at least according to him)

No, it is still slated for a Q2 release. I'm thinking May, as it was sort of announced around the time of the Corvette (or, the official announcement, not the super early Gencon announcement).
