Tough Decisions

By ab10acl, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Having trouble deciding on a list for a store championship just looking for some critique on the two lists im considering.

Rebels

CORAN HORN

fcs

Vi

R2d2

Stealth device

WEDGE

determination

Stealth device

BLUE SQUAD PILOT

could drop determination on wedge and swap corran stealth for a shield upgrade.

Or this list

Imperials

DARK CURSE

ACADAMY PILOT

BOUNTY HUNTER

WHISPER

Vi

Fcs

Acd

Both are 100 points, what do you guys think?

For Wedge, I'd think about Calculation instead. You might shrug a critical, but it's tough to depend on. I'd probably run Hull instead of Stealth, if you keep Determination. But, by reducing their agility with Wedge, a Calculated critical has a better chance of getting through.

With the Imp list, I would drop the Academy and put some upgrades on your other 3 ships. You could put gunner on Whisper, a Recon Spec and Ion on BH, and one point left to get initiative.

stealth device seems silly on Wedge when it could go towards turning the Blue into Biggs, instead. I'd even be inclined to dump Corran's Stealth Device for a hull upgrade on Biggs. IT seems a little excessive on Corran and the added health goes a long way with the most annoying pilot in the game.

Also, switch Wedge's Determination --> V.I. Borrow it if you don't have another. It'll make so basically phantoms will wet themselves against both aces. It may seems situational, but it beats the hell out of determination

Option 2: If you have R4-D6, you can:

Wedge's stealth --> Blue into Biggs

Wedge's Determination --> R4-D6 onto Biggs

Corran's stealth --> Predator on Wedge

Looking at that initial Rebel squadron I'd really question all of the Stealth Devices. Corran may back it up with 3 agility but is he going to have the Focus to really help and he's already got R2D2 in there to help in the survivability department. Wedge just has 2 agility dice and I'd really question if he'd have a Focus token if you actually were going to need it.

For the Rebels I'd say drop both Stealth Devices and consider Determination as an available point. Although it make Wedge even fatter I think I'd take those 7 points and add an Engine Upgrade (or R7-T1) to give him some PS 9 movement options and perhaps Predator (although maybe not with the R7) to keep his actions open. Spending 3 points to change the Blue to Biggs can be a good option to help keep the two aces around a little bit longer.

I'm not sure what to make of those Imperials as you've got so many ships that want to fly their own way. I look at it as having three 'singles' with the two TIE Fighters working as a pair. One thing I'd definitely say it to switch Dark Curse to Backstabber to give the TIE Fighters a bit more bite instead of making them even more ignorable.
