Passive upgrades on the CR90

By Pandademic, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Sorry if this is an obvious answer, but I couldn't find anything about it in the Epic rules or on the forums. I was playing in a small epic tournament recently, and I brought a CR90 with Quad Laser Cannons on both the fore and aft sections, and a Tactician equipped to the aft. I had assumed that Tactician would apply to the Quad Lasers on either section, but my opponent thought that it only affected the aft section's attacks. We couldn't find it in the rules, so we decided it only applied to the aft.

I know that upgrades with the "Action" header can only be used by the section that equipped them, but is that the case for upgrades with passive effects?

I believe upgrade cards only affect the section of the huge ship they are equipped on.

No Upgrade cards affect the ship, not the section. you are right that you use the action for the section the card is on when using upgrades with the Action header.

WED repair droids can repair both sections. Tacticians affect all weapons, etc.

You can probably find a thread on the forum where someone had 3 Tacticians on one CR-90 with 3 Quad Lasers.

Okay, thanks. I should've checked the whole forum, and not just the rules forum.

So basically, multiple-card ships are still treated as a single ship, and any upgrades that say "you" are referring to the ship as a whole.

Specific discussion and ruling from FFG, in this thread.

Rule Question:
Regarding: Crew/Teams on a single section of a Huge Ship.

Can the Crew and/or Team apply their ability to either section of a Huge Ship. For example can a WED-15-Repair-Droid in the rear section of the CR-90 repair the front section? Or Gunnery Team, Mercenary Copilot, etc.

Thank you,

Crew and/or Team’s abilities effect both sections. So a WED-15 on the fore could repair the aft. A Mercenary Copilot would effect any attacks from the entire ship.

By the way, if a section is crippled, a WED-15 on the other base cannot repair the crippled section to “uncripple” it.

Thanks for playing,
