Han on the Fringe

By Castellan Alaric, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I have this 2 big ship build with Han in the Falcon and a Fringer rocking a HLC outrider. I've flown it a couple of times and it seems to be doing fairly well. Here's what it looks like now:

Han - EI, Lando, Kyle, VI

Fringer - Outrider, HLC, Merc Copilot

I try to stay at range 3 for the crit dealing Merc on my 2400 but the last few games I've seemed to be getting in closer - I have a theory that could help me out. New list idea:

Han - EI, Lando, Kyle, VI (I like Han at ps11 - just gravy)

Fringer - Outrider, Mango, Procket, Tactical Jammer

I think I'm short on some points but that's the idea. I know Han should have 3p0, but I'm not buying a corvette anytime soon so that's out. I think this is a 'slightly skinnier' fat han build with token spam, and I have seem pretty good results. Getting an evade token and sometimes 2 every turn just rocks. Han with a TL and focus/evade is just nasty - especially at r1. Now I switch the HLC for Mango for the obvious reasons (NO DONUT!). Also, flipping 2! hits to crits at r3 just sounds epic - especially if they go through against glassy targets like TIE's and squints (hello soontir).

I would like some feedback on this build - especially Han and what to add to the Mango/outrider 2400. Thanks!

Recon spec is better than merc copilot IMO. i think tactical jammer is a waste. Sounds good in theory but too situational on the table.

Overall I don't think this list has enough offense and it will be hard to get tactical jammer to work with Han restricted to greens most of the time. Prot rockets are too expensive. You're paying 3 points and a focus to roll four dice once.

Don't disparage Soontir Fel. With auto-thrusters and stealth device he could probably defeat this list by himself. Yes I'm serious. 3 dice out of arc shots are simply not going to go through.

Maybe consider rec spec and jan ors on Han. Focus and evade for a single action. I know you don't have 3PO but that card and EU are what really make Han shine.

I would like to take EU, but having to lose out on VI to take PtL makes me a bit nervous. Shooting after a ps10 decimator isn't ideal. Believe me I dealt with soontir last week at store champs, not flown all that great - but the green dice were all there to stop all but my most outrageous rolls. If Soontir moves after Han, I think he has this list beat by himself, but if han gets to move last to deny range 1 or maybe hide behind some rocks it will be a steep battle. My biggest problem with interceptors, one bad roll and you're toast.

I agree on the tactical jammer as well. If I was going to go the missile route, would you maybe suggest a cluster missile? 1 more point for 2 more dice that I get r1-2 with. Got to be in arc, and only a 1 shot so I'm not completely sold. I'm going to tinker around with it and see how it goes. Thanks for the insight.
