Speaking of classics lol
No love for Rebels?
I'd say my lack of enthusiasm for the Rebels is based on the lack of the 'coolest' rebel ships. The CR90 and Neb-B are ok. The AF Mk 2 is terrrrrrible. Until the AF Mk1 , Corellian Gunship, and MC80s are available, I'm leaning toward the Imperials.
Also: From a gameplay perspective, Armada takes a lot of juggling of a lot of very different abilities and uncertainty. Each additional capital ship multiplies that uncertainty. A bunch of smaller ships seems way harder to manage. As people get more familiar with the way to juggle them, it might be different, but right now, I think it seems easier to deal with two VicStarDeuces and a few fighters than five CR90s and a couple frigates.

Remember that even though you have "more" ships the rebels have lower command value, which means it is a lot easier to make the right choice with a cr90 then a Vic, so I think it will actually be easier to play rebs
I like both for different reasons but for now the Rebels get my loyalty. (I am buying both and playing them to see which style I like and to figure out the game more. But for fluff the look of the Imperials are nice but the Rebels have all the class.)
Also Mikael lives in my area and someone has to undermine his Holonet propaganda.
Fulcrum Lives! For The Rebublic!
It is USELESS to resist!
(OOC: But, yes, I'm quite happy that you're picking up Rebels.)
You never know, maybe Rebs will get the Errant Venture and get a shiny Red star destroyer of their own. I lean towards Imps too but that won't stop me giving Rebs a shot.
The worst thing about wave 2 is its not wave 1!
Yeah we only see Rebel capital ships in action toe-to-toe with the Imperials one time in the movies IIRC: the attack on the second Death Star. The other times we see them it's a brief glimpse while they're running the hell away - the CR90 in ANH, the Neb B and transports in Empire, etc. Star Destroyers, meanwhile, are all up in the Rebel's business throughout all the movies, so it's no surprise they have a larger hold in the imagination. Re: X-Wing -- The Rebel fighters are a different story. Each one with a unique design, pilots we see and care about, the underdogs on a suicide run, while the Imperial fighters (in the movies) are faceless, identical, and seemingly cannon fodder. The fighters are the real cinematic face of the Rebellion, while the Star Destroyers represent the Imperials.
Even as a kid, that was my favourite moment in all the movies. It had that epic, desperate, all-the-cards-on-the-table vibe... the rag-tag, mixed squadrons and fleet, implying that the Rebs had scratched together whatever was available... Ackbar being a badass... nameless A-Wing pilots and babbling Sullustans pulling off heroic feats...
My favorite part was when the Mon Calamari cruiser blew up...

Repeatedly.
Too bad. Even with all those Star Destroyers, you still needed a mammoth battle station to dispose of a few giant fish bowls floating in space.

Yup. I forget. How many ISD's did it take to blow up one little Corellian Freighter?

Never trust a man who has a 20 story statue built of himself to match his ego at the Senate square.

You have obviously been decieved...
Scum? You blow up Alderaan! And I heard the Emporer has a Sushi menu with Mon Calamari on it. And what of that Wookie fur coat he wore to the opening of My Glorious Emporer VII...... that he wrote and directed!

Look. Sure the Emperor might be a little eccentric, but see what he's done for the galaxy. He's been both a liberator of humans from alien political domination (Old Republic), as well as a huge job creator.
I think his small rough edges should be overlooked considering what he's done for the galaxy. Besides, we already discussed why Alderaan needed to go (re: hyperspace bypass), and don't diss Mon Calamari sushi until you've tried it.
I personally would try it, because well...
"ITS A TRAP!!"
@Mikael. I perfer smoked Quarren.

Alien political domination? What senate and chancellor prior to Palpatine were you seeing?

Talk about no sense of humor.

You have to admit, "Springtime for Palpatine" has a really catchy tune... <hums annoying ditty -- off key>
How many humans did you see when they panned the Senate hall?
Of course they had to elect a human as Chancellor. Being a Chancellor, who had to carry out all that insane and redistributionist alien legislation, require d a lot of skill. If they had left it up to some alien, it would have made a hash of it. (Evidence: Jar Jar Binks)
Loyal Imperials know and -more importantly- FEEL the truth(iness) of this. Only pin-head alien lovers need more evidence or so-called "logic".
Woops! wrong thread
Edited by Commander KahlainJust caught the re-release of Spark of Rebellion, part 1. They added Darth Vader making a holo-call to the Inquisitor. Pretty cool, really.
I've played 3 400pt games so far In fact until the 3rd game, it wasn't even close and the rebels lost. By the last game the rebel player (not me) learned not to rush in and fight the VSD's in a slugfest, but moved around behind them and won on victory points. It is suicide, with the current ships available, to rush in an brawl with the VSD's the rebel scum have to us their vastly superior movement.
