Calling all vassal contrubuters!

By clontroper5, in Star Wars: Armada

So we now have virtually all of the information one might need to play the game I would REALLY REALLY like to as soon a as possible... So let's get vassal set up:)

There is already a basic module but it needs a major overhaul(especially since we now have actually measurements)

I would gladly do this my self, but and lacking the experience and technical skills required to perform such a task(also my computer sucks)

So anyone with experience devoloping vassal modules PLEASE PLEASE, make the one for this game playable.

P.s. I along with dozens of other members of this community will gladly help in anyway we can :D

I've already started one, the basic one you mentioned

I'm waiting on the game to be in my hands to complete the updated graphics (obstacles, tokens, damage cards, accurate arcs, etc). The base sizes was a large missing piece and i'll be moving forward on that shortly. I'll need to scan in the movement templates and range rulers and stuff to so that the module will be as accurate as possible.

The hardest part will be the movement template snake thing. I've got a plan on paper, but am still trying to implement it in the module.

I've got most of the revealed cards in there as well as a large number of other minor edits and changes.

Penciling an early april release for general testing.

A few things I know off hand that I still need that might be available right now.

Dimensions for squadron bases. Was that in the reference book along with base size?

Tycho card

Major Rhymer card

He needs squadron bases - these are shipbases.

PS: Where did you find the meassurement for the Large bases.

It's in the rules reference guide, there's a thread as well still lurking on the front page. Unfortunately it didn't say anything about squadron bases though I don't think.

Major Rymer:

4 speed, 5 hull, anti-squadron dice: 1 Blue, 1 Black, anti-ship dice: 1 Black

Friendly squadrons at distance 1 can attack enemy ships at close-medium range using all dice in their battery armaments.

Bomber

Heavy

(Brace token, Brace token) 16 points

From the fighter squadrons preview image, just need to zoom in.

Yeah, but that image isn't going to be a good enough quality image to drop into the module. It'll look terrible next to the card images I lifted from the fighter article. I am holding out for a larger image.

Oh, I see, you need the actual image. Yeah, I don't think that's available anywhere right now, not in the same quality as the others.

What is this Vassal that you speak of clontrooper5?

What is this Vassal that you speak of clontrooper5?

vassal is a computer program that is used to play board games

look it up it's free:)

Warning it is a little difficult at first, so a tutorial video or 2 from you tube is a good idea if you decide to use vassal

I believe the actual website is called vassal engine.org (or .com not sure) so look for vassalengine

Yes, Vassal is quite interesting, I had downloaded several modules at one point but never knew how to get other players. I'd be interested in this module once it is released however. If you're getting a group together Clontroper5 I'd be love to get involved as long as it would work out with my schedule to get some games in!

Hadn't thought of a group bu. I certainly am now :)

I think I want to try to a run a tourney to

but that will be hard to manage

I use Vassal all the time...........it has hundreds of Game module to download for free, but make sure you have the latest Java update for your computer, also some modules are very resource heavy on memory. My laptop is a Toshiba and is around 4 years old and can handle the

program.

Here’s a screenshot of the new ships in the module compared to the old ones. A teaser as to what I’ve been working on.

As you can see I bumped up the size of the ships and cleaned up a lot of the graphics. The Victory on the left is the old style, grabbed directly from the preview article images. The Nebulon on the right is the new one, assembled from pieces and parts, and to a definite scale.

The flags for the defense tokens are cleaned up and much more legible in the new size, as are the command token flags. Command flags will be off the left rear. I opted to move the flags to the rear because they seemed to be in the way at the front. When I was testing the module I used the front a lot more for things like movement, collision checking etc. and it was too busy with the flags there as well.

In an effort to include all relevant information on the base of the model, I’ve included the hull remaining in grey (based off the ship card graphic) and the speed in yellow (based off the speed in the squadron cards) That way you don’t have to pan back and forth between the ship, and the card frame that holds the command stack, speed dial, and other pertinent information.

Digging through Forensicus’s posts from a few weeks ago yielded the sizes for the range and distance bands on the ruler, so those have been implemented as well.

A few minor tweaks here for the Nebulon B, but I thought I’d share this image with you guys anyway.
