1st bullet under "Critical Effects" on page 4 of the RRG says,

"The attacker can resolve only one critical effect per attack"

So no, in a circumstance where alternative critical effects are available you must choose which critical effect you resolve.

(unless the upgrade Fire Control teams is equipped to that ship)

The only thing that is close to an exception is Salvation. Crits count as 2 hits each, and you get the critical effect.

and that's only out of the front arc. side arcs are meaningless to the salvation title.

You are incorrect unless the ship in question has the fire control teams upgrade card
