I typically used to run 4 rebel ship squad so I am looking forward to trying this. From what I've read in other posts I think Agro allows the TL on the blaster attack roll?

yes it does, and that's what makes that mech dangerous. It gives more dice manipulation for offense

Agromech is good when it works, but to me, it's a poor man's FCS. Why? Because you're reliant on rolling a focus for it's ability to kick in, and to get that focus token you're reliant on not being stressed to take your action. With a Y-Wing and the amount of stress dealers out there, it might not be as good a call as you think.

Personally, I'd put the Unhinged Astromech on in it's place, gives you another 5 ways to get rid of stress on top of the 1 and 2 straights. It also frees up 1 point which you could use to put an Ion Cannon on the Y-Wing.

I've just had another look at the Upgrades you've put on Kavil and I'm not sure that they'll work at all.

Better choice would be the Ion Cannon and the Unhinged Astromech or even the Blaster Turret with the Unhinged Astromech.

Baaa -- That's not correct. Rolling a focus has nothing to do with the Agromech. To use Agromech, you merely need to take a Focus action, and spend that focus token at any point in the turn. Then, you get a free TL. So, it enables Kavil to take two actions per turn. That's why it's so incredible. Unhinged is decent, but I typically only use it on a Y-Wing that I BTL, because it makes it easier to line up a shot within your firing arc.

Paul1 -- Your list looks fantastic. I think you'll have success with it. Something you might try is experimenting with Dead Man's Switch on the Pirates. It's something I like to mess with quite a bit. Headhunters are fantastic shooters, but doubling them up as suicide bombers does wonders to your opponent's psyche. Suddenly, the opponent must shoot 14 Point ships as their top priority, while you're laying into them with Boba and Kavil.

The list is great as is, but that might be something to experiment with.

Maybe my logic is a bit wrong here but what I said was -

Which he can't do if he's stressed. Is that wrong?

If you can get a focus token on the Y-Wing, brilliant, the Agromech's ability kicks in and you get a free Target Lock. If you're stressed, then I'm afraid not, no action, no focus token, no free Target Lock.

Agromech in this scenario is the Poor Man's FCS.

That's a fair point, but it might not be as easy as avoiding red maneuvers to ensure you can get your focus token, there are a few things out there which are popular at the moment that can give you stress whether you want it or not, Rebel Captive, Mara Jade and Kath Scarlett among them.

As far as the stress commentary, it's only an issue if Kavil is double-stressed. To use Agromech correctly, you're mainly sticking to greens, and occasionally, whites. If he's got a stress, he goes green. If he doesn't, he can go white. Considering the stress givers like tactician, flachette weapons, and the stuff you mentioned, most of that is going to be directed at the true threat on this list -- Boba.

It is crucial for an ion-equipped Kavil to run Agromech because if he doesn't, he can often miss with his weapon in the first place, which of course makes him completely useless.

I understand entirely what you're saying, but I still think you're wrong regarding how good the Agromech is.

One stress is enough to dictate exactly what that Y-Wing is going to do so that he make his focus action, and that's going to either be a straight one or a straight two.

Double stress is going to make it a two shot shoots first barge that can't fire out of its arc.

People aren't going to ignore a 4 shot, range 1-2, turreted PS 9 Y-Wing, even if Boba's his wingman.

But, hey that's just an opinion.
