Contents of the Core Set??

By dantop83, in Star Wars: Armada

Has anyone found any leak as to the exact contents of the core set? I know there are some in the wild so I was expecting to see full spoilers by now...

I am going to assume 2 Core Sets will be a smart purchase, BUT it might make more sense to spend that extra money on extra expansions instead so I was just wondering if anything has been spoiled yet.

Everything in the core set is listed in the learn to play rules on the main armada page.

Search around on the forums, I think most peole are shying away from 2 cores. It's not a bad purchase, just not as much as a no branier as 2 X-Wing cores was. Wave 1 ships have a decent discount and all come with unique cards, etc.

Between the component list in the rules, and the details on upgrade cards in the wiki, we should almost have it all.

Hope that helps.

Strongly depends if you have friends also purchasing - for me having a second ruler, dice, objective cards and damage cards (aswell as lots of TIE Fighters and X-Wings), make a second core set a no-brainer as I have several friends who want to play but wont be buying initially - so I need to have a set for them to use too when they come round.

True, if you want to run more than one game at a time, there's no other way. Honestly, did they ever do that with X-Wing? You can only get damage cards from the core set, right? Everything else you can buy separate. But a core xwing box is like $25 at this point. $90 to $70 for armada core is a different story, at least for me.

So the Rulebook mentions 18 Upgrades in the Core.

The Wiki lists 15, with only 9 that have been spoiled.

I need some Bothan spies in here stat to get me some intel on those missing upgrades.

Uh sir, I'm not sure if we have any more Bothans available.

Then we need to make us some Bothans Soldier! Get procurement on it pronto! See if R&D can make them a little more sturdy...and less ugly while they're at it!

Oh my! LOL!

Yeah the cost of two cores is a lot more than x wing, but if you get it at a discount, even for $70, you are getting a good deal imho. A victory costs $40 by itself doesnt it? Not to mention the other ships and dice and movement tool and cards.

I think its good to get two cores, just a little harder to get them than x wing.

I'm not going to compare a discounted core price vs msrp wave 1 prices. If you're geting you're core sets from Walmart but your wave 1 direct from FFG, thats your business...

Its not just "running more than one game" - each player is supposed to have their own damage deck, they will also need their own objective cards, since they might want to choose the same card to go with their fleet build :)

Miniature Market has cores at roughly $69. VSD's about @27.60, Rebs from starter @13.80 per ship. Ballpark $55.20 for those three ships ($55.11?). That's a little less than $14 for all the extra goods in the Core set. With the Core, you aren't getting the upgrades that come in the ship boosters,

Your not getting all the upgrade cards true but you can print them out to use in any way you want unless you need them for a tournament. I still say getting 2 cores is a good idea if you will be one of the only people to own armada at first. Much better way to demo the game with 2 cores for sure.

For tourneys, true, but it's apparently just as acceptable to play from the same decks. We're not breaking the game mechanics by doing so. At least that's my impression based on everything FFG has said to date. Do we think FFG will ever release objective or damage card packs as they did the dice and movement tool? I know they didn't for XWing, but again, there's a big price difference between that and the armada core.

So we all keep talking about needing two damage decks, but when I read through both rule books yesterday the only reference I found to damage decks mentioned "the damage deck". Even looking on pg24 of the learn to play book, which by the way is meant to represent setup for two core sets, I still only see a single deck. This leaves a question mark for me, particularly as I've been one who's advocated having two core sets. Are we really certain we need a damage deck per player, or is it just shared? One rule that makes me think the latter is the precedent set on pg4 of the reference book under damage, which states that if there are no cards remaining in the damage deck, reshuffle the discard and draw from the newly shuffled pile.

These are the learn to play rules, right? Is there an advanced rulebook that would have more definitive language?

Where did they all go?

They heard what happened to the last Bothans that were hired. Not much of a retirement plan.

Not true. The plan is retirement at 100% pay, with all healthcare costs covered for the remainder of your lifetime. How do you beat that?

Invisible: have you looked at the Rules Reference?

I haven't found anything in there about it...

Thanks for the insights everyone! I very quickly remembered that I always play with my friend using all my stuff and ideally I will need second damage decks, objectives, commanders, etc...so the second core is a must purchase for me. Now the real problem..I barely had time for XWing, how am I going to make time for 3 Star Wars games with Imperial Assault Skirmish Tourneys finally starting and Armada finally dropping! AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGG! I need more time for Star Wars related activities...:(
