Shooting Squadrons and Ships from same hull zone?

was reading page 19 of the rule book and it said at the bottom

"The X-wing squadron can be targeted by the attack."

does that mean we attack a ship and the squadrons when we activate a hull zone?

I hope I'm reading it wrong, what do you guys think... or know.

No, it means that both the ship and the squadron are legal targets. You still have to choose one or the other. Page 15 explains that you can attack once against each Squadron in a firing arc, and page 8 emphasizes that both attacks must come from different hull zones. So you can choose one attack against a ship, or one attack against each squadron, but not both from the same hull zone.

If the attacker is a ship and the defender was a squadron,

the attacker can declare another enemy squadron as a

defender. The new defender must be inside the firing arc

and at attack range of the same attacking hull zone.

• Each enemy squadron can be
targeted only once per attack.

• A ship can perform two attacks during its activation, but
it cannot attack from the same hull zone more than once
per activation.

• A ship can attack the same target with different attacks.

• Ships and squadrons cannot attack friendly ships and
squadrons.

Huh, I sorta wish anti-squadron attacks just occurred automatically against viable squadrons without being counted against your 2 attack limit. Add to the chaos. But that also makes squadrons a lot more impactful if there are threatening ships around demanding your attack allowance's attention.

Maybe a dedicated anti-squadron ship like the lancer will get a free attack against squadrons or something. Be cool.

Lancer will probably just roll something obscene like 4-5 blue dice for anti squadron and maybe 1 blue in all other arcs for anti capital. That would back it up lore wise. Say 2 shields fore and sides, 4 hull, and give it the same speed as a victory, as they were supposed to have terrible engines. 1, 1, 1 For Command, Squadron, Engineering. Say, mid 40ish for points. Boom.

Absolute murder on fighters, but have trouble catching them, and dead meat if a capital ship pounces on them.
