rules are out

Nice. Where did U find them? (obviously in the link)

So they re-posted the news article from last week. The 4 example builds and a link to the rules. However the rules aren't loading for me. **Now they are! Just very slowly..**

Very nice. This is a great sign for us.

This is great! Just the learn to play rules but its a great start. Now I can read these instead of working for the afternoon! lol

Notice the article also says the core set will be in stores next week.

The move tool is still card and plastic then? :(

I downloaded 2 files; The Learn to Play guide, and the Rules Reference.

I didn't expect any different. I am sure someone will come out with something different but I wouldn't expect it to be better than plastic.

I can't find the Rules Reference link?

Did anyone notice that the base sizes were spelled out in the rules reference guide? The medium is 61mm x 102mm with future large based ships being on a 76mm x 192mm base... Fortunately I had a ruler at my desk and was able to draw them out quickly. The difference is rather dramatic - Large ships are probably going to be pretty large on the table even with relative scale! For further reference, it says small ships are on a 41mm x 71mm base.

Thanks for the link.

Wow, that is bigger. 3.5" longer and a little over half an inch wider. Overall the larger base is ~43% larger than a medium base.

Um, isn't the large base ~135% larger than the medium base? (6222 mm^2 vs. 14592 mm^2)

I drew the base sizes out and the med to large size difference is crazy. Knowing that the ships that will use the large base will hang over the base one can imagine a super star distroyer and home one both fitting. The large base ships are going to make the current know ships look really small. Very excited

Can somebody upload a picture showing the sizes, large included, for those of us away from rulers?

I need to create like a flicker account so I can upload photos

1. A ship can attack squadrons, any in their field of fire. So if 3 squads are in your firing arc, you can spend one of your two attacks to fire on ALL three squadrons?

2. Can there be more than one commander in a fleet, so long as only one is declared aboard a flagship of which there can only be one?

3. You can only spend one defense token of each type per attack -- but can spend multiple tokens of the same type per round, assuming you have them availible?

4. A defense token spent after being flipped goes from being exhausted to discarded -- meaning a single token could potentially be used twice in a round but then lost? Depending on question 3 above, can it be used twice in a single attack or just in a single round, before being lost?

HNN was waiting for the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order (COMPNOR) to declare this information suitable for loyal audiences, but it is now declared such:

Yes - a single attack can target all squadrons within medium and short range in an arc.

2. Can there be more than one commander in a fleet, so long as only one is declared aboard a flagship of which there can only be one?

No - a fleet may have only one commander (from expanded rules reference).

3. You can only spend one defense token of each type per attack -- but can spend multiple tokens of the same type per round, assuming you have them availible?

Yes - if you had two redirect tokens you could use one defending against the first attack and one defending against the second attack that round.

4. A defense token spent after being flipped goes from being exhausted to discarded -- meaning a single token could potentially be used twice in a round but then lost? Depending on question 3 above, can it be used twice in a single attack or just in a single round, before being lost?

Once per attack, but potentially twice per round. i.e in the case of Brace - a ship attacks you with 6 hits, you can flip brace from green to orange to make it 3, but you cannot use it again to then go down to 2 (1/2 of 3 rounded up). However, if their second attack shot you and did 4 damage, you could then discard your now orange brace token to reduce that to 2 damage. But that would be your token gone for the game.

Answers added for you :)
