PCs as NPCs

Has anyone used another groups PCs as NPCs in their game?
This sounds like it would be quite hilarious to think how some oddball, psychopathic or at least "more developed than standard Npcs" would act if they came across other PCs.

Ive been thinking of doing this before using one groups PCs as rivals or enemies to another group but never came to fruition.

Is it easier to do PCs vs PCs than to GM a group characters vsing PCs?

It could work just fine as long as you can remember all of the tricks that the player developed. They tend to be of an equal power to a PC but only if you run them the correct way.

As for personality, well... that is a different story and depends upon the personality of the character and how the player played them. I could easily see some groups characters needing to be put down.

I only used this as a tribute.

Long time ago we finished a game, and after a few years I used my player's old characters as "special guests" for a pair of sessions. In general I only use NPC's because uses to be easy to take the rol of a NPC that you designed instead the ones from other players.

We had a PC that, for both IC and OOC reasons, split with the party early on. He has gone on to become part of a recurring "rival adventuring party".

These NPCs often still end up eventually "simplified" statistically, keeping the signature talents and dropping or ignoring the ones that would make it hard to deal with in a conflict situation.

We use tons of NPC's in our game. More than 60% of them are vital for the game story. More than 60 plus 50 more "on the seat".

I create them just with 2 main Skills, 1 or 2 Combat Skills and some other minor values. The rest are talents based "on the scene" and respecting their "archetipes" like: The pilot, fly better, and so on XD

I have actually done that before, I did it in a game with one of the other players on my table too! They explained who the character was to the others, and (in the same game) their resident slicer is one of my other PCs

Anybody else here read Knights of the Dinner table?

I had this happen to my Players.

I had a rival group harass my Players and even steal their ship. Months later trying to inject some new life in the game, I had them relive those incidents of harassment as the other group. They got to see the motivations and understood why what happened to them had to happen.

It was quite fun.

It could be done, but seeing as how the PCs are often going to be loaded down with talents, particularly if they're experienced characters, it's going to become something of a nightmare for the GM to keep track of everything the ex-PC could do.

Truthfully, the GM is probably better off running a streamlined version, only keeping the few talents that are relevant to the encounter and maybe dropping any ranks in skills that aren't likely to be important to said encounter.

Yeah I was mainly thinking with this kind of thing to only focus on the narrative on tthe character.

For example I made a Gand survivalist when testing character creation, but now i wont be playing as a PC i will likely use that persona to either help or hinder my PCs. Perhaps someone fpr them to hunt or maybe it will give them some type of job or task

In star wars d20 i played a jedi apprentice, being a jedi he would probably look down on some of these characters EOTE
