So it was the Game Parlor, Chantilly, VA Spring Kit tourney on Sunday with a nice 15 players turning out. I decided to play Scum and brought my "Starviper experimental list D" after lists A through C had turned out quite badly.
My list was
Xizor, Predator, Autothrusters (36)
Guri, VI, Virago, Accuracy Corrector, Inertial Dampeners, Autothrusters (38)
Serissu, Predator, Stealth Device (26)
Game 1 win 77 - 64
Blue, B-wing/E1, Tactician, Flechette Cannon x 2
Gold, Ion Turret x 2
This turned out to be a very strange game in so much as my opponent didn't find much opportunity to use his Tacticians or Flechette Cannons but I failed to roll a single evade all game. Fortuanately I managed to keep out of arcs enough to pull out a win when time was called.
That is one shakey start to the day.
Game 2 win 100 - 0
Blue, Accuracy Corrector x3
Gold, Ion Turret, R2 unit, BTL-A4
So, I've taken Autothrusters on 2 of my ships and haven't seen a turret yet :-)
The ability of my list to reroll agility dicealong with Predator and the S-Loop just proved to much for my opponents list. The first pass was at Range 3 and my Autothrusters and Serissu protected my ships and the two Vipers put some serious pain on a B-wing. After that it became R1 fighting, which is where my list does its best work. 11 shots against a single PS2 ship a turn basically means it dies and that's how it went. I took plenty of return shots, but with Serrissu allowing rerolls on the Vipers, and with Stealth on Serissu not much got through.
Accuracy Corrector on Guri is just brilliant btw :-)
Game 3 win 100 - 38
Col. Vessery, VI, HLC, Shield Upgrade
Rexler Brath, Marksmanship, HLC, EI, Prockets
So this could have been a tough match and it was. Two pilots, both at higher PS, both packing 4 dice and both capable of locking and focusing each round. First pass again was at range 3, but only one hit got through on each Viper and I stripped all Vessery's shields. Next I close to R1 and we pound each other again, once more my defense holds, but 2 crits go through on Guri. This time all of Rexler's shields go down.
Now we each use our K-turn abilities, but I get the better positions. Guri goes down, but so does Vessery and Rexler is down to 1 hull now. I make a run for it to regroup my two ships and then come about to finish of Rexler with a full health Xizor.
I did brain fart twice in this game selecting a 3 K-turn when I meant to select 5 K-Turns on Serissu, causing her to bump my own ship and miss the K-turn. No idea what I was thinking.
Semi Final win 100 - 0 (lost 1 shield)
BBBBZ
The list I was dreading most, no real way to take it on other than take the first pass at R3, then knife fight at R1. The danger is this list in formation pours out damage. The plan worked perfectly and although my opponent rolled good attack dice, my greens were red hot and my ability to outmaneuver him paid in spades. I lost one shield all game. Neither I nor my opponent quite new what to say.
At this point it was already 6pm and so myself and the other finalist (who was flying two YT-2400's) decided to call the final a draw and split the prizes and go home.
Lot's of fun and I may have found a Scum list worth flying.....
Thx to Roy Scales for running a great event.
