Can someone explain this new thing? Perhaps a video, or how to build works?
What is the whole Bombers + Hull fad?
The who, what, where now?
I've not seen it. That said, it's a pretty simple theme if it's what I think; TIE Bombers are the cheapest blocks of metal currently in the game - 16 points for 6 hull. Add in their access to Target Lock and they're not a bad head to head fighter...
I guess you could strap a hull upgrade and make them even tougher, but frankly I'd rather not do and take a 6th bomber.
Basically,
You play on a timer during tournaments.
Good luck chewing through all that Hull.
PS. It is a war-of-attrition list, one of many.
With the (hyper) mobility of fat turrets with boost/barrel roll, phantoms, and aggressors I don't see this getting far. 5 attacks of 2 dice are crap and the bomber lacks the ability to keep up with hyper mobile threats. Fat corrans can just double tap FCS and burn down a bomber's health easily. This is why I've given up on the bomber swarm.
I think you'd be better off with 5 Y Wings and 5 autoblaster turrets. You have more overall health, with more of that being shields. You also have turrets. While they are only range one it allows you to some flexibility in your maneuvers.
Hell, you'd be better off with 5x prox mines than 5 hull or shield upgrades.
Must be people getting antsy to play the fixed Tie Advanced, haha. 19 pts does fill a similar pt bracket, and honestly, that 7 hull Bomber DOES seem way more useful than an 18 pt (20pt+Autothrusters) Alpha Squadron Pilot.
But honestly, I can't believe that you've seen this. Feels wrong...Makes me want to put a Proximity Mine in place of the hull...or maybe Prox + Hull for 22 pts! Maybe that IS better than a Tie Advances + Accuracy Corrector!
