d100

By Peroxis, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Think I missed something is there someway to roll d100?

I thought it gave an example to use the dice but I couldn't find anything?

Just roll 2 d10's. Is the standard for this I guess?

Yes, in the old d20 days, you used 2 10 sided dice (each was a different color) one was the 10s place the other was the 1s place. If you see a comment in rules somewhere that says roll for percentile it means the same thing. If you roll 00 that is 100

It explains it in the books also.

A d100 in the form of two d10s is sometimes known as "percentile dice." If you have a set of standard D&D dice, you should have what you need. Otherwise, it's pretty easy to get some: your FLGS should have loose dice you can buy for change, or you can put in for an order from Amazon that's just assorted d10s.

Of course, if you play L5R, you should have no problem coming up with d10s. That system makes it rain decagons.

While all of the above is true as well, you can purchase 10 sided dice that have the 10's (10, 20, 30, etc. up to 00) already printed on them. Add the second d10 and you are golden.

Alright just the question since it does refer to d100's alot even though it doesn't really talk about d10's etc. For example the beginners game does not include d10's but you at least need them for the crits.

just need 1 extra d10. Or i will pretend my d20 doesnt have any numbers above 10 (eg. 18 = 8 , 11 = 1)

Would there be someway to use a single d20 in the same way you would use 2 d10s? My brain feels like there is but i cant figure it out lol

Of course, just use the ones digit and ignore the 11-19. 10 and 20 are a 10 or 00.

You can roll a d20 and just drop the leading "1" for the teens. 10 and 20 both equal zero.

If you have only one d20, just roll it twice: first the tens digit, then the ones digit. If you get a 00 result (a 10 or 20 on either or both rolls) that's 100 on the chart.

Edit: ninjaaaaaaa!!!!!

Haha yeah my brain was just thinking of it like. "arent i rolling 2 d10's when i roll a single d20". But no because you need 2 separate numbers

Google a D&D roller. Easiest thing you can do.

I have seen those in action; since they are so round they take too long to stop rolling, IMHO.

I have plenty of percentile dice from standard RPG sets which is what I use. If you don't have any your LGS should have some loose d10 available for low cost.

I said I had one, didn't say I used it LOL, I did explain that I used 2 d10s also.

Before they came out with the non-regular decahedrons (10-sided dice), you used to get dodecahedrons (20-sided dice) that didn’t have a tens digit — just 0-9, twice. They weren’t even colored, so if you wanted a d20 where 18 was distinguishable from 8, then you had to color in the numbers yourself. You could use sharpie ultra-fine point markers, or paint, or whatever.

Man, kids these days. ;)

Yeah, and we used to have to walk home from school without shoes in 10 feet of snow. Uphill. Both ways.

I'm old enough to remember the days before d10's as well. I used to use crayons to color in the numbers on the d20's. Blacks were 1's digits and red were 10's digits. 2d20 of different color were percentile.

This was while you were fending off the T-rexes using only two sticks and a rock?

Hey, those things were mean. :P

Ah, coloring dice with a crayon. I still have some of those in my collection.

Man I feel old.

You had two sticks AND a rock! I wish I had a rock. We only had a single twig.

How do you get a quiet gamer to talk?

Ask them about their dice...

Ask them about their dice...

And how they carry around said dice. I swear, at cons I get more people talking about their dice bags than about the dice!

I use a sub-divided clear plastic box for all my dice. I bought it at an art store and it holds a heck of a lot of dice. :P

I used a Crown Royal bag, a real one not the ones they sell the booze in today if they even still do that.

That **** d100 was a *****, and the dog loved chasing it when it rolled off the table, needless to say I figured out how to use the d10s really fast.

Yeah, a quick percentile roll would take 3 minutes just for the thing to stop. God help you if it bounced.

You can also use a random number generator online, that's how I have done it a few times.
Set the MAX to 100 and MIN to 1 if possible

I have one set of dice... I'm turning in my Geek & Gamer Girl card. :(
