Something different and chaotic

By efiend, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I made myself build a squadron from randomly selecting two cards from my Empire collection. I am tired of my brain going for the expected. I got Royal Guard and Scimitar. I selected upgrades to try and move it into a compeditive squadron. I was thinking of sending bombers into the opponent's main force while focus picking with fly bys from the Interceptors.

Royal Pains 99 pts.

Scimitar Squadron Pilot + Proton Bombs (21)
Royal Guard Pilot + Push the Limit + Autothrusters (27)

Scimitar Squadron Pilot + Proton Bombs + Hull Upgrade (24)

I love the idea of two random cards.

Pilots only or upgrades too?

I just pulled pilots randomly, and took upgrades that I thought would work for their ships.

I'd switch out proton bombs for something else.

Proximity mines be my recommendation

You'll have a hard time to hit with proton bombs equipped on low ps ships

The problem is if your opponent ships are higher ps they won't be where they are when you lay your bomb. You'll be playing a guessing game. "is he going to move close to the bomb or fly away"

You don't want to be guessing for a one time 5pt upgrade.

I recommend proximity mines because they work better on low ps ships.

You get to move first. Now you know where your opponents ships are.

So you fly by Coran lay your proximity mine as an action, it lands under him, it detonates right away.

Doing possible dmg.

Even if you miss, it stays in play making it a good lane blocker and decloak blocker

Just having it can play mind games with your opponent

If you really want proton bombs I suggest equipping on a high ps ship. So you get to move last, and there is no guessing involved, since your opponent has moved his ships before yours

Thanks for the words. I switched to prox mines, dropped the hull upgrade and added two shield upgrades. - total list is now 100pts.
