ABBA with Tycho

By Amorphium, in X-Wing

Next weekend I will participate in my first tournament and I want to fly an ABBA list because I like the ships a lot. This is what I came up so far:

Tycho Celchu (26)
Push the Limit (3)
Proton Rockets (3)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Ten Numb (31)

Prototype Pilot (17)
Chardaan Refit (-2)

Total: 100

I have only played against other beginners so far, but Tycho is awesome and I want to keep him + at least another B-Wing in the list, the rest is open to suggestions.

I could downgrade Ten Numb to a Blue pilot and swap the Test pilot for an x/y, would this make sense? I'm not expecting to win the tournament but I'd like to be able to dish out at least some damage ;)

edit: uh, wrong forum, is it possible to move or delete the post? sorry :(

I've been running a list centered on Ten & Jake.

I like Tycho but his skill makes him almost predictable. The inability to K-Turn due to the stress that you'll never be able to get rid of makes turning around difficult.

I actually like Jake better, and he's two points cheaper.

If you're going to use Ten Nunb, you have to give him either Mangler Cannon or Calculation to maximize his ability. I have been running VI and Mangler.

Here's a list I ran to great success the other night:

Jake Farrell (24)

Veteran Instincts (1)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
Ten Numb (31)
Veteran Instincts (1)
"Mangler" Cannon (4)
Gold Squadron Pilot (18)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
R2 Astromech (1)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Total: 100

There's a great article on FFG about Tycho and how to fly him. Look for it. It'll help you out.

I like the list but I don't have all the cards/ship required, so far I have the core set, rebel aces, and the a-, b- and y-wing expansions. Next thing I wanted to pick up was a TIE-Interceptor for Daredevil + the 2 Scum ships for Autothrusters and the Mangler, the YT-2400 I wanted to postpone for budget reasons ;) I may be able to get VI though, any suggestions ?

Yeah, I read that and fell in love with Tycho, just need to all the cards first, thanks :)

This is one of the rare cases where I'm going to suggest dropping the last ship in favor of upgrades, Tycho can get two elite pilot talents and id highly recommend giving him one, preferably outmaneuver, veteran instincts or calculation. Ten Numb also really wants mangler cannon and veteran instincts. You're off to a good start though. If you're collection is limited the only thing I'd consider is making the second a wing a z95 and use the points for upgrades.

A link to that article would prove itself rather useful, Sir!

Jake Farrel is the Dancing King.

I really like Both Tycho and Jake.

I like to field both of them and, in my experience, Tycho is always the one that finish the game with more healt (usually aroud 75% to 100%).

With Veteran instinct, he dodge line of sight like a god and attack with three dice at range one really often.

Ten and the mangler were made for each other.

so how about this? :

Tycho Celchu (26)
Push the Limit (3)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Expert Handling (2)
Autothrusters (2)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Ten Numb (31)
Veteran Instincts (1)
"Mangler" Cannon (4)

Keyan Farlander (29)
Fire-Control System (2)
Flechette Cannon (2)

Total: 100

The Flechette Cannon is there because then I only need to buy the Starviper + M3-A, although I don't think I will be able to resist the temptation of buying the YT-2400 as well, so many shiny cards.

I probably need to hold back the B-Wings so they don't get outmaneuvered too hard, Ten Numb shoots first, seems like a lot of pew :)

I'm not a big buff on B-wings, but Tycho looks spot on in that last build.

For the record, this simply ain't true. Well, yes its true that tycho cannot turn around with k-turn (once he starts piling up stress), but he has all the white manoeuvers at his disposal (no other PtL user can say that), and any hard turn + boost gets you back in the fight almost as fast as a k-turn (or with daredevil, even better than k - turn!) AND you still have two actions to benefit from! So yeah - having the choice of ALL 3 hard turns instead of 2 different k-turns, is actually less predictable (in two different directions too)

Not saying Jake is a chump though - he's pretty great too, although for different reasons.

If you've got the Mangler Cannon Ten might be worth a shot, but otherwise he's not very popular for good reason. If you've got Rebel Aces swap him for Keyan I'd say, or Ibtisam or even a generic if you don't.

young and sweet only 17 (points)?

With this list, the winner takes it all.

Did you hear the guns darth fernando?

Ok Ok I'll stop.

I personally prefer advanced sensors on keyan as I think it lets you take advantage of his dial more but that second build is really similar to one my buddy wrecked me with the other day.
