The FFG bestiary.

Right, I just had an idea (:o).

Wouldn't it be easier for GMs and players alike to have a reference for all the creatures, nasties and gribblies made by the FFG community. I'm not going for a Dark Reign type thing, where we have all the finalised stats for a few beasts, someone could post up an idea here and the community would be able to work with them, saving the need for threads for all the awesome ideas us lot come up with :)

Now, to get the ball rolling, I present..The Barnacle.

(That thing fromm Half Life that eats you :P)

Skills: Concealment (+20).

Talents: Blind Fighting. Heightened Senses (Sight, Sound, Sight).
Traits: From Beyond. Unnatural Strength (x2) for the purposes of lifting victims.

The Barnacle is always found on ceilings, preferably in the dark, with it's tongue hanging from it's mouth. The Barnacle itself is attached to the ceiling and cannot be moved, it's tongue snare is it's sole method of catching food.The tongue is capable of hanging up to 15 metres, but it can be held at a shorter range to avoid it touching the floor. Should an unfortunate individul walk into the barnacles tongue, treat it as a grapple, with the victim at -10 Ag to escape, since the tongue is covered in a sticky, adhesive slime.

The Grapple inflicts 1D10+2 Impact damage for the first round only, after 1 round, treat the target as being suffocated. The victim can be freed by targetting the Barnacle (which cannot dodge) or chopping through the tongue. This is an instant kill to the tongue, the victim is immediatled freed. It can be shot at for -20 BS, again, modified by close range etc etc.

In addition to the suffocating effect and initial damage, each round, the victim is pulled up 1 metre, towards the barnacle. This assumes the victim weighs under 180kg, the lifting limit for the Barnacle.

When the victimr eaches the Barnacle itself, he receives 1d10+5 R damage to his/her head, as the barnacle begins to eat the character alive. This continues until either the character is entirley consumed or the Barnacle is killed.
If the barnacle is killed, the victim is dropped and the barnacle vomits up the remains of past victims, including bones and possibly equipment. The barnacles mouth can stretch, allowing complete consumption of it's victim. If killed, the victim is swallowed whole and, after 2 minutes, the mouth opens again and the tongue drops down. If the Barnacle is killed shortly afater, it'll drop back some of the characters equipment, with additional slime.

In addition, as long as the character is partially being consumed, they gain 1D5 IPs per round until they are either free or dead.
Note, the equipment dropped will be nothing bigger than a clip of pistol ammo, a scanner, or possibly a grenade. The floor beneath the barnacle will be littered with items too big to be digested.

By the way, a few may recognise this from a post I made on Dark Reign, but I've found the community here to be more responsive and likley to reply, so I'm putting it here as well :)

good idea and good iniative.

this is my idea. a lcassical theme. the ghost of an ancestor.

profile any npc or ancient dead pc.

echo of the warp and the profile of ghost from one of the scenario purge the unclean.

it appear a the dm discretion or when a player spend a fate point after an encouter decide pas de dm. the ghoste can answer a few question. one per degree of succes with any diplomatic skill. or save the life of a player. same as what wil happens in classical fate point ina more cinematic ways.

however the player can be judge contaminated or saint by others acolytes or inquisitor. it depend wheras they are or not radical or the religious point of vue.
