What Monsters do you want to see ?

By magicrealm, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Are you a classic fan of legendary Monsters or more scifi oriented bizarre types ? Which Monsters do you think are missing actually and should come in future Expansions (if any come) ?

Here are some suggestions of my favorute missing Monsters :

Minotaur

Beholder

Succubus

Vampire (although Eliza Farrow is one)

Satyr

Banshee

Basilisk

Gorgoyle

could continue the list.

Ever since they've started coming out with hero and monster packs, I've wanted a complete set of "Runewars" monsters- in terms of the neutral units, all we need is hellhounds. However, obscenes and flesh rippers would be fine, too.

I think we had a topic like this before, but adding to the list:

  • Hags/WItches - in first edition, the master medusa was called a hag flavorfully
  • Sphinxes - love the idea of a monster whose theme is to outwit the heroes
  • Sirens - based on the lieutenant from first ed.
  • Werewolves - a lot could be done with them.
  • Incubi - if Succubi were added, why not the male versions too?
  • Lamiae - I'm a sucker for female monsters, but they might be redundant with the medusae.
  • Kraken - another first ed. lieutenant... I think it'd be neat if the head of the Kraken was the master and the tentacles the minions.
  • Evil Mermaids/Mermen - Obviously I want a water/ocean-themed set.
  • Centaurs - Do they even exist in Terrinoth?

I would like to see more monsters that reinforce Terrinoth's unique setting, rather than generic Greek/high fantasy fodder.

In terms of monsters/heroes from D1E, that would primarily mean Ferrox (if they're in an H&M pack I must have missed it) as well as more non-human heroes, new or old. The old Road to Legend LTs could also be brought back, most of them were interesting and unique in their own ways.

I'd love to see an Uthuk-themed expansion, so flesh rippers and obscenes could show up there.

Also, some of the older unique stuff from the RB days, like living runes and the other hybrid species. I also wouldn't mind expansions that revisited Al-Kalim, Zanaga and the other regions established by older games in the franchise.

Kraken - another first ed. lieutenant... I think it'd be neat if the head of the Kraken was the master and the tentacles the minions.

Ha! I really like that idea. =)

Centaurs - Do they even exist in Terrinoth?

I'm not sure if centaurs have been seen before in any of the Terrinoth games. That's not to say they can't exist somewhere, though.

Eliza needs some vampire type reinforcements.

Vampire

Chimera

Drake

Banshee

Mummy

Grell

Hecatoncheires

Landshark

Hydra

Frost Dragon

Army ants (you thought rats were bad)

Doppelganger (share that hero card!)

Anything unique will suit me, I´m tired of generic fantasy types or mythological types everybody's seen in a million games.

I think FFG are definitely going in the right direction, if you look at what they´ve released as part of D2E. D1E was much more generic fantasy compared to that (I see it through the H&M packs, last one with Trolls, Ogres and Manticores...) and is far less interesting to me.

I'd love to see an Uthuk-themed expansion, so flesh rippers and obscenes could show up there.

I haven't worked in those units specifically, but I just posted the first part of a custom campaign centered around the Uthuk, and Runewars in general.

I want to see some human bad guys too.

- Bandit

- Pirate

-Dark Knight

-Skeletons

- Haunted Armor

For your greatest pleasure, I am pleased to tell you that bandits is an available monster in Manor of Ravens small expansion box.

Feel free to add it to your collection.

P.S.: Bandits is considered one of the most powerful monster by a lot of OL making them a must have :)

Skeletons are also in the first edition and have artwork for the second edition meaning they're coming in one of the H&M collections. :)

Pathfinder bestiary 1 trough 4: All of them!*

* Yes that includes Cthulhu and several giant monsters. make 'em! :)

I want to see more goblins.....

We have Goblin Archers, Witchers, and Splig, so it seems only natural that we should have a Melee based Goblin like Goblin Swordsmen or Spearmen. You could even mount some on spiders or wolves and have a Goblin Spider/Wolf Rider.

I also think werewolves and vampires are a must.

- Trent

- Bansee/Lamia - with crazy hair with maybe a mouth or two hidden on it.

- Hydra Lieutenant

- Uthuk Y'llan Melee unit &
- Uthuk Blood Sister

I see. Well that's good to know! I only have the Core game... it's going to take awhile to get all these expansions.

You may surprise yourself with how fast you collect this game.

We have all started with "only" the core game. Then, we wanted to check an expansion for all the new mechanics, figures, classes, etc. Then, only a lieutenant pack to see content. Then, only a single monster pack to get some new cool monster to ravage our beloved heroes.

Then, you woke up one day with every single expansion, lieutenant pack, monster pack only to find that you are still craving for more :)

Well, this is my story !
