"Vigilant Watch" and "Ever in Motion"

By Straangeer, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi Guys,

I have two questions for you.:

-1st.-

The situation is the following, I, as the Overlord activate my shadow dragon and perform a move action so I spend 1 MP to move to an adjacent space of a Marshall hero who immediately plays his "Vigilant Watch" skill card which says the following.:

"Exhaust this card when a monster enters a space adjacent to you. While this card is exhausted, each time a monster moves out of a space within 2 spaces of you, that monster suffers 1 Heart."

So I as the Overlord interrupt my move action to perform another move action.

" When interrupting a large monster’s movement to perform an action, the overlord must be able to declare the action that the large monster will perform before placing the monster’s figure on the map.”

So I expand my monster like this :

x=empty space

d=dragon

h=hero

12345

A XXXXX

B XDDDX

C XDDDH

Then because I declared a move action I shrink to C2 and does not suffer any heart because I am out of range of the Marshall's ability and i continue my movement.

What do you think about that?

-2nd.-

Skirmisher "ever in motion" skill

When you are knocked out, you may place your hero token in an empty space within 3 spaces of your hero figure (even while this card is exhausted). Exhaust this card at the start of your turn to discard a Stunned or Immobilized Condition card.

So when my hero is knocked out - in that moment when it happens - i place my hero token in an empty space within 3 spaces from that space where i exactly was knocked out. Then, my next turn before i perform a "stand up" action i can change my hero token's place following the skill card's rules.

Is it a right statement?

Thank you for your answers!

For the first question, I think you can do it without even declaring another action, if you want. Everytime a monster is interrumped during movement, you as OL decide how to expand, and how to shrink again, unless the heros are forcing the movement (as in crossbow).

For the second, I'm not sure, but, are you moving the hero token twice? If that's the case you definetely cannot do it, as the effect of the card is only triggered the moment the hero falls, if I understand it correctly.

Andrew MM is correct on both counts. When The marshall exhausts that card, it interrupts your movement, and you must expand. If you can't, the marshall can't exhaust the card at that time. You then can resume your movement from any of your shadow dragon's spaces (it's possible that the marshall exhausting this card will actually help your shadow dragon move.)

For "Ever in motion," the skill lets you place your hero token in a different spot than you normally would at the moment you are knocked out . Normally, when you are knocked out, you remove your figure from the map and place a hero token in your space. All "Ever in Motion" does is change that to remove your figure from the map and place a hero token within 3 spaces of your space. You absolutely cannot move your hero token again. If you happen to have the skill "Back in Action," you can move up to your speed once you stand up, however.
