This post is about talking about the uses of the bomber in the current Meta. What would be good bomber builds using the current Meta. And any speculation on what would be a good Aces Expansion, ( Which hopefully will be in the next wave.)

This post is just for fun and not to be taken seriously, so please keep that in mind. Feel free to share your views and opinions.

Is there room in the current Meta for Bomber?

New damage deck mechanics make them invulnrable as your deck runs out of cards.

Eventually. FFG will have to add card to the damage deck to incorporate the new waves, maybe some cards that remove crew or systems upgrades.

I do hope that the next wave will be about the bomber. Maybe that will include a heavy and or light version or even any advanced model with shields. Just a thought.

A bomber/defender aces pack would be a god send to give both the extra flavor they really need. Plus the opportunity to "fix" proton torpedoes, concussion missiles etc in some way. It would be a good pack to add a new bomb type in too.

I stripped the shields off an aggressor and then hit it with a double crit prox mine giving him stunned pilot x2. Sadly He missed my ships so the crits didn't kill him but ended up range 1 of all my ships (minus Soontir).

Granted only one play but still a blast.

Scimitar + Hull Upgrade is bleeding insane. Add a bomb of your choice, copy and paste it so that you have a few, and add a ship for damage.

I think they do quite well. Tough as nails and they they just keep coming.

The problem with the bomber isn't that they aren't great little ships, like Dracon said, as an out-and-out jouster with a cheap bomb in the pipe they're pretty good.

The problem is that they aren't great at what they are supposed to be great at - i.e. being cheap and effective missile and torp platforms - but that's not the bombers fault - the problem lies with the way ordnance is treated.

I'm hoping that FFG come up with a nice fix for ordanance, something like a ordance title card which is generic so any ship can carry it. Keeping it simple an fixing the mechanic is all we need realy I'm thinking something like and ordance target lock that works either table wide or range 5. The later would require the r5 range ruler be in the bomber pack so that probably won't happen. It would also would be nice if that fix would allow you to use the target lock to modify dice but as there is the munitions fail safe card I don't think we will see that.

As for use for bombers, I have found there biggest problems are high agility ships like the phantom pairing them up with a mobile heavy hitter and they work very well, good old howlerunner makes them a total pain as well

The 12 points of upgrades back, for one thing.

Jonus' Bonus does not apply to himself, so using him with the already overcosted ordnance is a bad idea.

Give him Bombs and Survivability.

Fly him next to ships using Mangler or Heavy Laser Cannons, for maximum effect.

On the Captain you tend to not want the actual munitions on him. I really like Squad Leader on him to maximize his assist ability to other ships. Actually the easiest mistake on loading a bomber up is putting in too many weapons.

Right now for Munition Bombers I am liking the Cluster Missiles for the double-strike. The issue I have is I only have three bombers themselves so I've been using three Academy Ties for back-up.

There's also the dubbed "Jonus Brothers" list that has Jonus with two Heavy Laser Delta Defenders.. I'm wondering if anyone has tried them out with the new Mangler Cannons to free some points or do you really need that extra dice at a distance?

I like the 3 bomber 3 TIE list - I'd be tempted to maybe swap the academies for Dark Curse and Backstabber - using the remaining 3 points for perhaps another missile or torp - or maybe stick a stealth device on Dark Curse to make him even more obstinate

Regarding Manglers on Deltas - no

In my view Manglers are only there for when you have a ship with a cannon slot, and only 4 points to spend

If you can afford HLC get HLC

I like 3x scimitars w/ seismics backed by HLC+predator Vessery. The bombers are tough enough to engage in a joust and while they are not the most efficient, they will lose slow enough for Vessery to do work. The bombs also make for a good no-go zone for interceptors and phantoms. Meanwhile, they split TLs on to priority targets to power up Vessery's HLC of doom.

The bomber has the potential to be as flexible as my favorite ship: the b wing.

Both were released in the same wave with plentiful upgrade slots and the hope that said slots would lead to a variety of builds rather than a single overburdened ship.

This worked out amazingly for the b-wing which has so many builds and uses its mind boggling. The poor bomber, meanwhile, is just hampered by how **** ordenece is But the prox mine errata gives it hope

If wave 7 delivers on the ordience fix, the bomber may become as flexible and respected as the b wing

I still love major rhymer with PtL and a tube or 2 of Adv proton torps. Few things can survive 5 hits. Yeah it costs alot of points, but you can deal an enormous amount of damage.

Jonus with 2 HLC defenders is also terrifying (stiff, but terrifying)

I've been toying with Bomber ideas for a while now. S&V allowing me to have bomb options in all three factions has just kicked me into overdrive. I'm currently working on a way to use Y-Wings to deliver a double Proton Bomb payload to a single target, followed up with a Corran double tap.

Bombs and mines are very much under-utilized in the game. Personally, I hope it stays that way, so I can corner the market on bombs in the local meta.

Homing Missiles are just awful. Worst piece of ordnance in the game.

Now, if you PtL on a Concussion Missile (or Deadeye + Recon Spec) you have over a 90% chance to have 4 damage come out (as the only way not to is to have 2 or more Blanks).

That'l cost you the same points, remain useful after launching your missiles, and do better damage even if your opponent has an evade token.

Failsafe is quite bad in this list as well. Its best used when you've only equipped one missile/torpedo that you need to hit (Ion Pulse Missiles, Ion Torpedoes, or Assault Missiles), or when you're using Flechette Torpedoes which don't care whether they deal damage at all.

Vader doesn't need Veteran's Instincts. He's already a 9, and even in the insane PS war of Wave 4, that was still top of the heap.

Also, it is a Stealth Device, not a Sheath. The former doesn't get hit, and the latter gets filled with Sword.

Yea, I meant Stealth. I just just seing if any one was paying attention, Yea that it! :-)

I have tried an all bomber list that crunches every thing that gets in it way, except the Phantom.
