Newbie questions on Epic Play

By SubOctavian, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi everyone. Sorry if it has been asked before, I honestly did try to google it for some time with no success.

So,

1. Official epic tournament rules says this about assigining energy tokens to huge ships during set-up:

8. Players assign Energy tokens to each of their Huge ships up to its energy limit.

Does it mean that energy is assigned only to ship card, but not to any of the ship upgrades (e.g. secondary weapons)?

2. Lets look at the situation:
- a TIE fighter activates and bumps into Tantive IV (bumps with the corner of its base to Tantive's front base side).
- it rolls 1 attack dice, suffers any damage, skips action. And he is considered touching the corvette.
- then, Tantive activates and goes 1 straight. As a result the cornner of the TIE fighter's base is between two Tantive's bases.

I understand this as following:
- when Tantive moves, he doesn't overlpap TIE, so TIE is not destroyed;
- Tantive and TIE are NOT considered touching after the Tantive's maneuver, because Tantive has moved. So, they CAN attack each other this round.

Am i right?

P.S. Sorry for my English, it's a bit rusty

1)

It does indeed meant that the ship card starts with energy while upgrade cards start empty.

2)

The Tantive does not overlap the TIE. The TIE is not destroyed. But are the two ships still touching each other?

There have been several discussions about that situation: Overlap, touching, one ship moves and the two ships are still in contact. Are they still touching or not? I think we are still waiting for the FAQ to answer this.

Hey, thanks!

On 2nd question: the basic rulebook really doesn't add any sense.

Ships whose bases are touching cannot declare each other as a target during the Combat phase while their bases remain touching. As soon as either of these ships moves away (so that the bases are no longer touching), this combat restriction no longer applies.

This "so that the bases are no longer touching" in brackets makes my head explode.
