My humble "repaints"

By R2Tito, in X-Wing

These are my first attempts at "repaints". I don't prime mostly due to laziness. I'm sure some of the seasoned mini painters have picked up on it, but for those whom haven't, these were all done with sharpies. If any are wondering, there are some tricks involved. For instance, the mirrored cockpit on the red zone was done by first applying blue sharpie then going over top with silver until I got the even color I wanted. And the hard to reach place? Liberally apply the color you like and go over with a paint brush dipped in plain old rubbing alcohol and repeat until you get the darkness you want. Also works as a wash. Best as a base coat though since the alcohol will dilute or remove any previous colors you laid down. Enjoy!

You did a fine job my friend

Nice!

Firstly let me say those look awesome. I prefer the stripped Z over the other one but I'd have to see more angles.

Here is the thing I find with painting your own stuff.

There's those who are going to offer advice on how to do it better and explain it to you.. And there's those who are going to say Well you could do better, and not explain anything.

The best thing to remember is the only person you have to impress is you. If you are happy with your paint job that's all that matters cause the mini's have to come home with you every time.

That said again, I think your ships are out right awesome.

Thanks guys. The red was the last one I did before the m3a, so I had some practice and figured out some tricks by then. I will probably redo the x and E at some point, but seeing that they don't leave my bag very often they will probably stay as they are for now. Doing it this way first was great practice and I think I may eventually grab some brushes and paint soon and probably start by doing a combination of both techniques. Again thanks for the kind words!

I love that hot rod Z-95! Absolutely gorgeous!

Sharpies is how I started out too before moving into paint and brushes. I have to say though yours turned out much better than mine did back when I started. Great job! I wouldnt even touch the Red striped X-wing with paint, it looks so spectacular as it is!

Thanks raynuk, I have others that I want to do, finishing up my scummy hwk and really want to redo the E. As for the x, I do like that whole'just came out of the swamp " look, I think it may just need a few touch ups.
