ogryn and armour

By ciryon, in Only War House Rules

Hello

Doe the ogryn can wear the armour provided to him by his regiment ?

Not really sure what you're asking here. Ogryn can, and do, wear armour, provided it is in their size. Really something you should ask your GM.

Hello

First I want to apologize, I have posted on the wrong forum ( I posted in house rules instead of rules questions by mistake (so if a moderator can move it in the right section).

The second point is that I am the GM in fact :) . I have mainly game mastered DH, RT and DW, but I mainly know 40K through the role-playing game and I do not play the TT so I do not know if Imperial Guard equipment and armour are adapted to ogryns (or ratlings in fact )

Cellphone chopshop posting, aye?

Technically, ogryn in TT are deployed in their own squads and not part of the "regiment" in terms of equipment. They get their own stuff and are usually deployed without armour as melee fodder troops.

I see no reason why a regiment fondly attached to their ogryn (harr harr, but it could happen. Mascots are a thing, after all.) or one who frequently relies on these expensive assets for close combat fighting could not put them in armour, though.

RAW there is nothing preventing the ogryn from actually wearing the regiment's armour. In the end, it depends on the regimental fluff and how much they value their abhumans as among the living.

Thanks sir :)

I personally increase the weight of Ogryn Sized armour appropriate to their bulk.

Thanks for your answers :) .

Also, it is necessary for all Ogryn armor to be painted pink and bedazzled.

If you want a bit of an "official TT answer", they certainly make such stuff, as Nork Deddog and all Bullgryns wear custom carapace, so someone in a high enough place of requisitional authority (read your group, or their commanding officer), can acquire such for the Ogryn. I sometimes question, based on the book's choices of sentences, whether Specialists get the regimental gear (my typical example, Psykers in a Kasrkin squad. Do they get the carapace armor?), but the last time I brought it up, the others here informed me that their overall take on things was that yes, they do. If your group gets stuff as part of their build, then the Ogryn should, where it isn't a gun he'd snap like a twig, and if they don't, then he can get some the old-fashioned way everyone else will, but they do exist, so he CAN.

Also, it is necessary for all Ogryn armor to be painted pink and bedazzled.

Because nothing quite says "FEAR THE WRATH OF HIM ON EARTH" like an Ogryn coming at you with pink bedazzled armor glinting in your eyes as he pulls the triggers on the Ripper Gun he has, liquifyimg everyone around and leaving you a sobbing mental train wreck.

Here's a thought. In D&D 3.5e, Small creatures' armour weighs half as much and armour for a large sized creature (such as an Ogryn) weighs double the norm.

(can't past anything in these forums for some reason, so: )

Google "Bullgryn":

Those are Ogryn shocktroops wearing custom carapace armor made from the dicarded track links of a Leman Russ.

They look awesome!

They are personally my favorite Ogryn. I already have in mind a unit of Bullgryn for a side mission in my Only War game (yes, they will be wearing pink and I will be damned if the afternoon sun doesn't project a certain bedazzling look...)

Point being, they're rad.

I'm thinking about a regiment of ogryn cavalry. (Ogryn homeworld, cavalry mounts, whatever else i can take to make them more broken :) )

Think warhammer ogres mounted on groxes with jerrycans of water and rippergun ammo stuffed in saddlebags.
