When I was neutral in SWG to get my ace pilot status, my Rihkxyrk had orange, green, and red lasers... So it really comes down more to what the pilot could get their hands on. I later upgraded to all orange (was a rarer color due to it was a quest reward for getting Ace in a tree) but that's besides the point.

actually, i think the colored shots tend to be tracer shots. you know like real guns where every 3rd bullet is coated in magnesium or something for brightness to track where your guns are shooting in planes or large scale night time fights. its not actual yellow-hot heated bullets, those are specially designed for planes so that the pilot can see where his shots are actually landing.
