I imagine FFG pays to ship to their own warehouse, distributor pays to ship to their warehouse, and FLGS pays to ship to their store. So each company is only going to do the minimum shipping wise for themselves. In the end, reprints probably follow the longest path possible.
Armada is on the way; officially
Given that the "www." version is where you go to off the official site, I would be extremely skeptical of anything that comes up by messing with the URL.There was a thread in Imperial Assault that pointed out that it makes a difference whether you use the www. in the URL for the upcoming page... I have no idea why this is the way it is, but it is definitely on the boat when you visit the URL without using www.
It doesn't strike you more as oversight or laziness? There are many other 3/12 entries beyond the Armada wave on there. It doesn't look like a situation where they accidentally popped them up to the boat because the text had to be changed for Q2 as well. I am more skeptical of their new web site than the validity of all the changes listed for 3/12. But if it is wrong and unintentional it's just more reason to dump the whole upcoming page and just stick with even more vague information.
Or a simple error. In any case, the Armada stuff is now showing as on the boat for the www. version of the site.
News article up about fleets. First para, last sentance
"Your wait is nearly over. The rules for Star Wars™: Armada (pdf, 27 MB) are now available on the game’s support page, and the Core Set is scheduled to arrive at retailers next week!"
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
However, for those of us that preordered wave1 at the same time, "Several weeks from now, when the first wave of Armada expansion packs arrives."

This is why I've stopped preordering until FFG announces that stuff is actually shipping.

Brick and Mortar may seem out dated but it is still the best way.
Edited by BeattyI completely agree. I just wish there was a FLGS anywhere near my house...

Funny you should mention that... been toying with the idea of opening a store... just scared to death to think of it failing...

Run Magic events and you will have your bread and butter set. Most of the LGS's I talk to say that Magic pays the bills to support everything else.Funny you should mention that... been toying with the idea of opening a store... just scared to death to think of it failing...
Also Warhammer. I don't, nor will I ever play, but it keeps these stores in business.
The shop near me also sells model and R/C trains, planes and automobiles. He says those items keep his store afloat.
Yeah Magic for sure and the evil games workshop lineup and of course a healthy dose of all things FFG!! Lucky for me I've played magic and 40k for years (until about ten years ago) So I wont be ignorant of the products etc...

Actually, in my experience most stores that try to cater only to the wargaming crowd can't stay in business. GW has such a huge markup on their toys that most people will shop online where they can get a deal that a brick and mortar just can't match with its overhead. Then they come and play on your awesome terrain for 3-4 hours, buy a pot of paint, and call it even (it's not, this is why most of us advocate buying from your FLGS). I don't know, maybe the overhead is just higher with the rent here in Chicago (city proper). But every successful game store has a large magic crowd, among other things.
I work at a FLGS. From my experience we have Warhammer players come in and order through us, the latest books, and occasionally a box of figures for a unit. We also have some knockoffs that players can buy at cheaper to use in their armies, since we don't enforce WYSIWYG. Magic though, let's just say we have a midnight prerelease happening again... and the only reason we're letting it happen a second time is because we made a lot of money out of it.
I see midnight release for Magic advertised all the time. If the demand is there its always a good idea.
This is a great bit of news to wake up to ![]()
I think everyone who plays has at one time or another listened to their inner geek and thought about a game store. I think the only way to make it work is to follow the movie theatre model. The movies don't actually make any money on ticket sales. Their profits come from concessions. Roger Ebert once said that modern movie theaters were candy stores that showed movies.
A game store I vistied years ago had a large free play area that the local geeks packed out on Friday and Satuday nights. The owner had a ample supply of candy, chips, power drinks etc. I rarely saw someone purchase something off the shelf, but the conveninece store was rocking.
Hello Community,
For reasons of business security I won't post my name or my company's name, but I wanted to alleviate some tension in the community and tell you that Armada is officially on it's way to U.S. distribution centers; likely to arrive at the end of the week of 3/16 or the beginning of the following week.
Good hunting; o7

Edit #1: Reply: To the folks whom are worried about a troll; I assure you this is not. I got excited myself when I received the news and made an account specifically for it. Keep your eye here on Monday when I get a hard delivery date from UPS Freight.
Not the hero we deserved, but the one we needed.
Cheers!
Haha... very true!! He actually passed along good information. Thanks to the unknown hero!
Just spoke to my Australian retailer who I have pre ordered from. There supplier is expecting the core set to arrive to them next week.
I so very much want this to be true......
My wallet however....
Just spoke to my local retailer (Good Games Rockingham). THey had no idea what Armada was , when it was coming in, or If I could preorder it. They quickly tapped it up but were unable to tell me anymore.

(I will say I like how you said 'tapped' instead of typed.)
Edited by BeattyShould tell you that its a Magic the Garnering store from my statement. THey are pretty good once you tell them about something, its just getting to that place.
Yeah, it does feel like we are a bit disconnected from the world sometimes.
