Power builds?

By Dazgrim, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm off to a tournament tomorrow. I know what I'm flying, what I don't know is the current state of the meta.

Is Fat Han + Corran still prevalent? What about Whisper and the Rear Admiral? Or are swarms back in vogue?

Yes.

It's all up in the air with Scum out there. I was at my SC 2 weeks ago & no 2 teams in the top 8 were the same. A fat Han beat Whisper + Soontir on the final table.

Meta hasn't changed too much, but I can say there are less Fat Hans flying around. Be prepared to see more AutoCeptors though.

It's too soon to decide on a concrete "meta," so expect plenty of the Wave 5 old guard and plan accordingly

I personally recommend control lists. They've been doing very well for themselves because Stress works over large ships and arc-dodgers. At the very least, expect to see maybe one or two as well.

I don't think we'll be seeing many swarms until the dust settles. Double Aggressors are the hot new **** over in my area, and while it might just be shiny toy syndrome their stat-line is basically impervious to 2 dice attacks.

Just play defenders with hlc, they're the new meta. They don't particularly love stress but they also don't lose their k turn to it so they're still pretty strong.

no, they're not the new meta

they're plenty strong, but they're definitely not popular

Yeah, wishful thinking. Maybe if they keep getting underappreciated they'll get a title.

Defenders blow, +1 for a nice troll attempt though lol.

I brought 4 B wings and 4 tacticians to a weekly tournament yesterday. I got cocky, flew it like crap. First match was against corran and Han. Everytime corran double tapped I lost 6~ health on a b, and with Han he could just do the extra few points of damage on it to finish it off. That coupled with two guesses of one with c3po on one agility die that succeeded twice really hurt me.

Second round was against chewy corran, this time both had engines. Flew meh, got dragged through asteroids, corran was invincible as always. Whiffed a crucial range one, hit focus blank blank. Picked up the focus blank blank and rerolled with a TL, and got hit focus blank blank. >_> With predator on chewy it was 3-4 hits every time he fired. Corran ran and regened all of his shields back. I conceded when I only had 2 b's left and corran was back up to full health and chewy had only lost 2 shields.

So yep, wave 5 turretwing obnoxious action economy lists are still around.

I imagine that a dual aggressors list both with autothrusters might make a dent in turretwing. If you don't have autothrusters, I imagine that a super corran and predator chewy can just burn one down in a few rounds of fire, like it can with most other things.

If only I could hold up a mirror across the internet

excuse this Newbie, but what is a "fat han"??

A typical Fat Han build might be Han Solo with the Millenium Falcon title, C-3PO on the crew, Predator, and Engine Upgrade. You'll see "Fat Dash" and "Fat Corran" tossed around too- this generally refers to all the points being sunk into them to beef them up something fearsome
