If you wanted to give the X Wing evade, a title or upgrade that granted it directly makes more sense than making your fighter more agile simply by being next to someone:
Title: T-65 A2
Add the evade action to your action bar.
Alternatively you could add a conditional evade through an astromech.

I like the astromech idea. All I can think of is a Chardaan refit type of thing or a title. But releasing new astromechs would be good for all ships that can take them and give people more options for squad building.

What about a title in line with the Han Solo Crew Card?
When defending, you can spend one Focus token to add one evade result (instead of turning the eyeballs into evades, of course).
That helps only in extreme cases (only blanks rolled/ only evades rolled), but it would help. Maybe it is not enough.

Yes I was naive when I first started playing and bought, what I thought would be, enough ships to fill decent squads. Now I already have a few extras and with even more fixes on the way...

All the love for other iconic ships lately (Advanced and Y in particular) leaves me feeling like the X needs a hug. We see the unique pilots often, but rarely the reds.
So I'm a fan of homebrew rules to fill the gap until FFG produces another balancing card. I use MajorJuggler's X-Wing Refit (-3 on one upgrade) and frequently put an Engine Upgrade on a Rookie or Red to give it some post-dial maneuverability. But in my mind, there's an opportunity to slap a title on the X-Wing to crank up the thematic feel of the ship... well, at least until FFG does:

Upgrade cards with Actions are all sort of reviled. Expose, Marksmanship, R2-F2 etc.

Well. I love it, if only because I always felt that Hobbie should have an Elite slot, seeing as how he's a Rogue. Now he can, just so long as he sticks near his fellow Rogue.
