VI vs Injured Pilot and Rexler

By Off Jenkins, in X-Wing Rules Questions

got two tricky questions.

What about Veteran Instincts when u get critical Injured Pilot? VI increase your base pilot skill by two, so when you ignore it, PS back to it's base value? We've got interpretation that VI only works at start of a game and you don't care about it for rest, so when u get that face up dmg nothing happened.

Another one is about Rexler, when he hits xizor or any ship with draw their fire. When defender(i mean xizor or ship with DFT ofc) have at least two uncancelled dmg, so one pass to the other ship, if that ship also get a damage card, can rexler face up damage cards for both ships with spending single focus token?

(1) Injured Pilot says to ignore the effects of your elite pilot talents. That means ignoring the effect of VI, which would mean (as long as no other effects are in play that would change it) you're back to the value printed on the Ship card.

(2) Rexler Brath's ability says "After you perform an attack that deals at least 1 Damage card to the defender, you may spend a focus token to flip those cards faceup." Accordingly, his ability only affects cards dealt to the defender.

(2) Rexler Brath's ability says "After you perform an attack that deals at least 1 Damage card to the defender, you may spend a focus token to flip those cards faceup." Accordingly, his ability only affects cards dealt to the defender.

Also of note is that Draw their Fire does not help a defender when facing Brath (unless Brath rolls a Crit Result on the attack).

If Brath rolls 3 hit results (no crit results), and the shield-less defender rolls nothing but blanks on defense, here's what happens:

  1. The defender is dealt 3 facedown damage cards
  2. Brath then spends a Focus Token to flip those 3 damage cards face up.

Draw their Fire triggers off of "uncanceled Critical Hit results" - in the scenario I just explained, there were no "uncanceled Critical Hit results", therefore Draw their Fire cannot be used.

Similarly, Brath is one of the few ways Chewbacca (pilot) can obtain a faceup damage card. Brath also (kind of) bypasses Chewbacca (crew), in the sens that the defender needs to decide to use Chewbacca (crew) to discard the damage card when it is dealt facedown - it cannot be used once Brath then flips those cards faceup.

Just wanted to mention, I asked FFG once and Frank said that if a VI ship take that crit during the activation phase, before it activates but after it's unaltered PS would have activated (which can happen with prox mines), then the ship activates normally at the raised PS on that round, just so that it doesn't get skipped.

@Klutz i mean only hits taken by DTF, not cards ; p I understand that DTF didn't takes faceuped cards

thanks guys and to be honest, both questions were obvious to me personally, but got some people around that need some proofs
