Hi all,

I own a pretty large collection of Mel's 3D-printed ships and wanted to wait for S&V to arrive so I can adjust to the original FFG ships in terms of colours and shading.

So what kind of colours do you guys use in terms of which brand and which specific colour / tone? Any hints?

Also any preference for washes?

Yesterday I attended a tourny where there was a rebel set up that was a simple base coat with a brown wash gave it a great look of rust. Didn't have my phone other wise I'd be showing off pics

Ta! In terms of GW colours I thought of going for some layers of Screaming Skull on a white basecoat and Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade shading.

There's a post where I show the tie avenger, I used Citadel base celstra grey for that and then nulned it you could use that, there's another post further down that was about one of the republic era fighters from Mels miniatures 3d paint ups that talked colors for that style, but I think you are nearly spot on with screaming skull for a white white for use. I think the grey might be a bit more dingy for the scum though.

Really you can get good results with white primer (I used Rustoleum), a white craft paint drybrush (though I'd advocate a better paint like Menoth White), then a wash or two with Future Magic Wash + a few drops of India ink.

That's what I used on my Black Sun Y-wing (plus some charcoal for the black parts).
