Autoblaster home on scum fett ?

Been playing around with a new list since scum came out,Internet wisdom and game experience generally shows that the autoblaster is a poor choice. With the advent of the scum boba the idea came to me that this could be a good fit as both his ability and the autoblaster require r1 to trigger.

So the basic building block is

Boba 39 , vi 1, autoblaster 5 , eu 4 , hotshot blaster 3 ( because your gonna need it) 52

Then a couple of y wings with ion and unhinged astromec and title at 24 a pice brings you up to 100.

The vi and engine get you into range one and if you run fett up the side and turn in and bring the wings straight up the board you can engage with 2 stronge fronts and have people make the decision to turn to face 1 or the others or split fire.

From play testing everyone has turned to face boba and I have been lucky to get 2 rerolls on average and then have 2 of there ships ironed facing a board edge. While I did have a badly damaged boba, he was able to get out and the y wings combined with boba managed to seal the deal.

While I'm not 100% convinced that we finally have a set home for the autoblaster blaster it does feel like a good choice. I even suspect that phantoms may shake at the knees against if they came across this list.

I've thought about this combo, but it still feels about 1 point overpriced (compared to the usual feeling that it's about 2 points overpriced on most ships that can equip it).

There's the fact that you'll sometimes need to Boost to get the R1 shot, meaning you'll have unfocused attacks.

There's the fact that a percentage of Boba's shots will come from the rear, non-cannon arc, so you'd do better equipping offensive upgrades that work in both arcs.

And there's the fact that the Mangler or HLC will work on more rounds than the Autoblaster will.

I don't think the Autoblaster is a terrible choice for him, but I don't think it's a particularly efficient use of points either.

It's an interesting idea for sure, worth trying if you have 5 points spare. It certainly makes Phantoms and Fel nervous. I get that VI means you get to maneuver after them, but doesn't the auto blaster force them to play around you anyway (forcing them to make suboptimal choices). Going for both seems a bit redundant.

...but isn't feedback array a better way to cover your flanks than the Hotshot is. On a big base ship it actually covers a fairly large area of the board.

I think it's the Mangler that makes me not jump on this. On paper, there's some fun synergy there with the Autoblaster, the range one thing, yadda yadda yadda. It's gonna be nasty, right?

But in practice, the Mangler just adds a little oomph at all three ranges, it makes Boba (especially Boba with APT) not such a one-trick pony, AND it costs a point less. That's awful tempting, to me.

Best use I've found so far for Autoblaster has been on Outrider Dash. Bit weird only being able to attack at Range 1, gotta be in the opponent's face.

Yeah I think those are all valid points, I just prefer hotshot over feedback as you don't limit yourself movement wise and of course no damage. I don't thin the unfocused attacks is to much of a biggie as once your in r1 you have the rerolls.

I have found vi to be gold on any high skill pilot, in games where my opponent didn't go for an initiative bid it only cost 1 point so it's not a big waste of points.

What I also found that once I had the first pass with the y wings ( when I got the timing right with boba firing at the same time) I could easy 3/4 k behind and the autoblaster was still able to rip with the rerolls , kinda like Krasis's ability not being to much of a deal that you didn't get an action cos you got an inbuilt one.

And really you don't need Hot shot blaster here but recon specialist ;) In last tournament i only loose with Rendar + Horn list becouse fly soo bad ;) But shoot down Soontir fell in 1 turn feels good ;]

I hace tried a couple of casual games with auto blaster, VI, rec. spe, and EU. flown it together with Kath: EU, the targetlock robot and Vi 98ponits total. its fun but very hard to get optimal use of the auto blaster more than a couple times.

IG is the best fit for the autoblaster. IG can also carrier an ion cannon to help set up shots. Works great against Interceptors and Phantoms.

I actually took Autoblaster dash to a store champion recently and did quite well with it, going 4-2 and scoring 6th place out of 24 players. You can read about it here.

I've been wanting to try it on Scumm Boba with Greedo as copilot just for fun, but I agree with others that there is probably a better use of 5 points.
