More Star Wars Movies? I Think So.

By Beatty, in Star Wars: Armada

I am amazed no one has posted this yet. There will be spin off movies for the Star Wars universe exploring other parts of the galaxy!

http://money.cnn.com/2015/03/12/media/disney-star-wars-episode-eight/

The First!!!! will be called Rogue One.

And I was on the bus when I first wrote this. But Rouge One would be a funny makeup add in the Star Wars universe. :P

Ok, this could be very interesting.

But I do want some more imperial based stories. Everyone knows the rebs win, but there are soooooo many stories to be told by stormtroopers, pilots, gunners, officers, ect.

Wedge gets his own movie? The original actor is a bit old, but that would be awesome. I always loved that the best pilot in the galaxy wasn't a Jedi.

That's right, his name was Han Solo ;)

Pff, Han needed a flying fortress to survive (I recall him taking several hits), while Wedge managed with a wimpy loyal X-Wing, and the only damage he took was shielding Luke for the Trench Run.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOH SNAP!

[Rebel pilots everywhere turn toward smuggling pilots everywhere, grab popcorn.]

No offense, but Han wasnt the best Pilot. He was a good pilot yes. Wedge is probably the best on in the X Wing universe, followed by the Skywalkers (but thats like putting Steroid using Athletes in with normal athletes)

Also it's Rogue One, not Rouge (which is a type of women's makeup) One.

Im also a bit disappointed that we dont get a Imperial sided movie. I know its pretty expensive to do a movie from their side (generally more extras would be needed, props etc) but it would be awesome. Tie Fighter the game made a **** good job that showing that the imperials wanted law and order instituted over the Random chaos that occured. Maybe they dont think the audience will ever want to side with the 'villains' but I think if done right it could work.

Anyword on what Rogue 1 is about? Is it offically Wedge? CAN I START CRYING FOR JOY YET?

Han flew that Flying Fortress through an asteroid field, so I don't see how pulling of crazy maneuvers in a bigger and harder to maneuver ship counts against you...

Wedge isn't even as good as the Skywalkers, either of whom could beat the pants off of him. Despite having less flight experience, Luke was recognized as a better pilot (and was promoted ahead of Wedge). In the X-Wing books they even say he is the best, but just didn't fly combat missions for as long. I don't think Wedge is even as good as Jaina if half of the stuff about her is true. Top five, but definitely not number one. (Ok, definitely trolling a bit now) :P

Besides, if flying a wimpy ship is what qualifies, then we have to talk about Soontir, and I don't want to go there...

The rumors swirling around were that the first spin off movie was going to center around bounty hunters. The title Rogue one would almost hint at rogue squadron of course. Guess we will learn the truth as time goes on.

I heard somewhere that Disney no longer considered prior Video Games and Movies Canon when it comes to writing new movies and Video games.

Felicity Jones is cast in the lead, so I'm not sure how that changes the chances of it being about the rogue squadron. Also the rumours before this was that the movie was supposed to be bounty hunter oriented, and that Felicity Jones and Tatiana Maslany were competing for the lead role.

Still not sure about the Old Rebulic story yet.

As Family Guy points out, Han's "I know a couple of maneuvers" was drifting slightly to the left. Wedge has and always be, the best pilot in the Star Wars galaxy.

End of Line.

How do we know this movie isn't taking place long after Return of the Jedi? Maybe around the same time as episode VII even...

Could be, so it could be the new Rogue leader after Wedge takes his well deserved retirement.

Or it could be a bounty hunter, a rogue, if you will.

Pfft, Soontir Fel was the best pilot in the galaxy :P he'd run rings round Wedge and Solo any day of the week!

While some accurate points have been made about rebel fighter pilots, I will not enter this debate. I want to know about imperial pilots. What does it take to be a TIE pilot? What are the requirments for being able to run a TIE Advanaced or Interceptor? How do the fpilots feel about going into battle in something that is nothing but an engine with guns? Do they form a "brotherhood" since they have to rely heavily on each other for survival instead of shields? What type of training teaches these people to be comfortable and calm in a weaker ship? Are women allowed or is it strictly or dominantly men?

There is much room for Disney to explore. Maybe we should start a writing campaign or something.

By the way Tie Pilots are arrogant as hell and treat citizens like scum.

I want to think the spin-off movies are going to fill the gap from VI to VII. But we might get movies that fill the time frame between the OT or even before. I'm actually more interested in the spin-offs than the new trilogy.

Am I missing something, or is the only current canon Rogue Squadron from the Battle of Hoth? And also, wasn't Wedge flying as Red Leader at the Battle of Endor? Could we have an entire re-imagining of Rogue Squadron exploits pre- or post- Battle of Hoth with Felicity Jones as the commander?

With a name like "Rogue One" my heart is ACHING for a movie centered around Rebel pilots... I have to admit, there is a creeping sense of disappointment when I think about about the possibility of Rogue One being about bounty hunters... Unless maybe a its a crew or group of pirates that come into the fold of the Rebel Alliance and have a ...particular reputation that leads to the Rogue Squadron name?

Exciting!! :D

Personally I actually rather like the name Rouge one. It best fits the lady cast.

It is Disney's attempt to appeal to the female market. A dramatic Star Wars action movie about putting on makeup.

Sorry ladies, if there actually are any on the Internet.

Rouge one.. I see what you did there megamen.

Also: I didn't see Wedge shooting Vader's TIE (in the back) when Luke was about to get shot down.
