Opinion's Wanted: What cards are over priced!

By devotedknight, in X-Wing

I just wondering, and it nothing more than that. What cards in X-Wing do you believe are over priced.

For me one is Countermeasures for 3 point. It should be only 1 point in my opinion. It's a good idea, it just to expensive.

Flight Instructor.

Flight Instructor.

Agreed, I wonder if any uses that card, and thinks it worth its point value.

Chardaan Refit. I never seem to find a way to squeeze that one in.

It is one of the earlier cards, mistakes were made.

Look at VI, that's one that actually should've been at least 1 point higher.

Well maybe you shouldn't use that NEW math!

Any missile or torpedo that discards a target lock or focus.

CR 90

Outmanuever is rarely going to see the light of day doing what it does and costing as much as predator/ptl

Basically every single missile/torp apart from Refit, Proton rockets, flechette, and maybe ion pulse missile are over priced

and so is Deadeye (yeah,I went there)

I'm just striking up a conversation. Nothing to Serious!

That is just because people are unwilling to branch out and try new things, rather playing what they've seen win. Let go of your crutches.

Yeah, but it's a shame really. I like the idea of FI, the cost is just prohibitive. Maybe I should house rule it down to 2.

Agreed, FL is Steep.

Bingo. It is nearly as good as an extra attack dice. It's pretty awesome if you're good enough to know how to make it proc.

Black Lotus.

Expose is the one coming to mind.

it's not a matter of crutches or a new thing, it's just an expensive situational upgrade that could instead be a reliable upgrade for the same price

I am not a fan of crutches. Hell, I made sure to bash turrets on a quasi-daily basis during Wave 5 and still do, and recently I've been able to pilot an X-wing to the top of the local store championship. Sadly, I don't see much room for outmaneuver to exist and I've tried it out on A-wings, Defenders, and even Boba. From my personal experience, it seems exclusively reserved for Jake Farrel.

No, it's because the card is rarely a good choice compared to its direct competitors*. Blail Berg explained why much better than I could here. Long story short, though: Predator does a better job of increasing your damage and doesn't need you to do anything to activate it, for the same price. Outmaneuver offers no advantage, really, thus people don't use it.

* Double-EPT A-wings, Vessery and some other uses excepted.

Push the limit is far too overpriced if you ask me.

I think you spelled "overused" wrong :P

E.I, though, now that's some **** I'd wait to see in the bargain bin before I picked it up

Yeah, but just breaking the game down to numbercrunching is boring to me. I'm not going to munchkin my way into taking only what is most optimal. That way boredom lies.

Outmaneuver rewards flying, Predator rewards rolling a die. Anyone can roll a die. Apps roll dice.

This is what I was going to say but you beat me to it...

I'll chime in on the ordinance but...the worst offender there is adv protons...

Marksmanship, opportunist.

Countermeasures should cost 1.

Munitions Failsafe should cost 0 (and even then, it's a questionable pick simply because it's taking a slot)

Almost all of the disposable ordnance should cost 3 points at the very most. Most of it should cost 2.

Autoblaster should cost 4, maybe 3.

Sensor Jammer should cost 3.

Squad Leader should cost 1.

I suspect that the stat-line upgrade cards and Engine Upgrade are not priced competitively, but I don't know what the appropriate costs are.

There's also a lot of chaff cards that basically just need a flat-out rework if they're ever to see play, because the problem isn't necessarily the point cost - it's that they take-up a slot that could otherwise be used to house something that is much more effective and has much larger scope.

Marksmanship, opportunist.

I was trying to remember the other 4 pt ept...yeah...opportunist too.

As someone who gets a lot of mileage out of Opportunist, I think it's actually fairly priced, considering you can use it to modify secondary weapon roles as well as primaries. I agree that most of the others are over-costed though.
