AoR "Base of Operations" and Far Horizon Base Rules (pg 81)

By FreeXenon, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

OK, everyone. We are looking at starting a Aor campaign and we will be starting with a base of operations. I noticed in my Far Horizons book that there are options for Bases. How do you think these 2 ideas will work together?

Pretty darn well. They are having more Base rules in the Diplomat book, but I suspect they will be similar in nature.

Have you actually used these rules to create a base for an AoR campaign?

Were there any changes your guys made to make it fit an AoR campaign?

The Base of Operations Rules are wonderful.

My Players had a cantina using the entertainment form of business.

As a Base it is pretty easy to setup and even gives an idea of how to spend extra money for upgrades and fun stuff.

Sounds like Leverage in the latter seasons. Fun times!

Strongholds of Resistance may, or may not, contain stuff in this vein... I mean, it would make sense though, wouldn't it? The description states rebel bases, and while the base of operations for a starting group may be something smaller I wouldn't be surprised if this book supplied more stuff for that, perhaps not in the same way as Desperate Allies...

The announcement for Strongholds of Resistance mentions that'll be the case, saying it contains information for "creating your own outpost."

Strongholds sounds like its going to be a fun book!

I cannot wait.

Currently, an AoR base of operations is a bit different from a homestead or business. Hopefully, in an upcoming AoR release, they'll merge the two concepts so that you can create, say, a military base, as well as homesteads and businesses. As it stands now, you can still create a "base" as a homestead or business if you'd like.

If you use my character generator, you can create a free base for your group, regardless of what sort of group it is. Just edit your group, go to the Resources tab, and choose Edge of the Empire from the dropdown. Whereas in the basic rules, your EotE group could get a starship as a starting resource, with Far Horizons, you can now also choose a homestead or business. Select "Homestead or Business" and click "Validate Resource". It'll then take you through adding a homestead or business to your group.

If you feel like home-brewing it, you can also use the data editor to create your own base type (such as a military base) and foci (such as an troop headquarters, fighter wing base, listening post, or whatever else you can dream up). You'll then be able to create a base of that type as well.

Hey man! Yea, we are using your awesome-sauce software!!

Thanks for all of your work!!

It looks like the GM has something different in mind for a base.
