Rebirth of autoblasters? (Scum Boba and IG)

Yetserday mini tournmament (14 peoples). I end 5 and only loose with Rendar and Horn and my terrible flying :P

Why Autoblaster? Because of interceptors... I destroy 3 of them. Every in 1 Autoblaster shot. Awesome feeling! Next time i'll try Scarlet.

Certainly I can see the Aggressor making nice use of them; it's a cannon platform that's actually manouvrable!

The Autoblaster is pretty **** lethal if you can get shots off with it. I think it's still a fraction too expensive to consider hanging off a Heavy Scyk, though (and whilst the Scyk is manouvrable, it does lack dead-run speed that a range 1 cannon probably needs).

Magnus Grendel you have right. This weapon need boost and scyks with boost and autoblaster cost 25 or more. However with IG88 or Firespray is great and maybe next time ill try Flachette or Ion cannon as second cannon slot for IG ? :)

Eh, auto-blaster hasn't exactly gotten better. It's still very expensive and very situational.

Auto-blaster turret, though, is very interesting and only 20 points on a thug. Yeah, it's still range 1, but it's 360 degrees on a ship that only throws out 2 dice anyway.

Ficklergreendice i try 2 autoblaster turrets and its not good idea ;) It is good on named HWK (cost 21-27 then), but on y-wigns... I dont know...

But I'll try 2 y-wings with EU and autoblaster turrets with IG88 next time :)

Oh don't do EU.

My only experience with the turret is one game with one Y-wing, where it ripped a phantom in half (so, overall, positive experience)

Don't think you need anything for an Auto Y-wing to be effective apart from maybe unhinged and definitely a good sense of positioning

But you try this list? In my opinion scyk are to fragile for HLC... And for this cost you have another scyk and upgrade for 4 pts :)

Scyks are far better off with Manglers. Mangler's still effective at range 3 and it gets an auto-crit. If you want the list to stay the same with a Mangler swap, you could use the six points you save and equip Stealth devices on the Scyks. If you keep those Scyks at range 3, they're defending at five dice (until they get hit).

I like the idea of Fett w/ Autoblaster. You are already trying to get into people's face and this just makes it mean. I've thought about this.

I don't want to toot my own horn (ew), it's just that a hot-shot blaster is going to be fairly worthless without dice modifications of its own anyway (arc-dodgers still get a crapton of green dice and now thrusters), so might as work on getting dice modifications instead.

I do also think EH and EU are redundant, though. I'd consider V.I so you could out arc-dodge the arc-dodgers!

Who knows? With V.I, K4, and Engine boosting into range 1, I might have to eat my words about Auto-blasters

My thought with both was just to make **** sure you got in range 1 every time, but I would not be surprised if it was overkill on a big base.

I will be trying this after my Regional weekend where i only lost to a list with 2 IG-88's and 2 Squints + whisper. Both games my opponents especially the IG's had ridiculous green dice.

the Auto blaster will one shot even Soontir and i don't have to worry about greens and the Feedback Array allows me to kill wounded ships i can't get an arc on.Which is what cost me my 4th game, **** whisper blocking me 6 turns with 1 hull left.

I love the auto-blaster and ran a 3 B-Wing build in a tournament with them (took 3rd). Low PS was the ONLY negative. It is also has a demotivational factor, when those agility dice matter not.

Not true. Scyks with HLC do MORE damage. That is worth something depending on the rest of the list. Basically, it comes down to this, at 23 points, a 'mangler' scyk w/ hull or stealth is more durable than an HLC scyk, but the HLC does more damage. So what does your list need more of? High damage? Then take the HLC. Here's some examples:

IG88 w/ HLC, predator, autothrusters, inertial dampeners & seismics = 54

You've got a high damage ship so adding more HLC's isn't critical, so 2 heavy spacers w/ 'manglers + hull or shield fit well.

Palob w/ ICT, moldy crow and either intel agent or determination

Serissu w/ VI, title & flechette cannon

You have some decent control here but not enough damage. So 2 HLC spacers are a really good fit here not only because Serissu gives them some added protection, but also Palob is such a nuisance your opponent might want to kill him first (allowing your HLC's to fire longer). Taking 'mangler' is inferior here because you are missing out on an opportunity to capitalize on the extra damage HLC can provide
