Zombie Mutants and Killer Robots

By Warbringer25, in Runebound

While I know many are critical of the sci-fi elements in Frozen Wastes, I think the problem with it isn't the idea, its the execution. Those elements just seem out of place with everything else in the Runebound high fantasy world of dragons and magic. That said, I think the Runebound rule system is flexible enough to support a sci-fi variant, especially one in a post-apocalypse world where the future is fighting mutants across a radioactive wasteland... not flying between the stars. The game would need some flexibility to take into account motorized vehicles and an emphasis on shooting... but I think it could be really fun if well done. A setting like Gamma World or even Mutant Chronicles would work well for this type of game. Once I get finished with my Cities of Adventure variant for Midnight... I might even start working at making such a version myself using the Sands or Midnight board. I'll post my work as I go along and if anyone has any input or ideas... I'd be interested to hear others thoughts.

This is where FFG's licensing deal with GW would be great, as they could use a 40K/Necromunda setting for instant background for the game.

The Ash Waste Gang created late in Necromunda's life would be the feel and style I would go for in creating a sci-fi version of Runebound. They could even mash in some Gorka Morka stuff..
