What do you think the Top 5 charcaters are now?

By Bloodrunstrue, in UFS Uk Forum

Heya guys.

It's been 5 days since the amazing as new banlist came into effect and i've been playing around with more decks than other. I was wondering what everyone's top 5 Charcters list was in the UK meta?

My personal list ( Uk player)

Top 1. Promo Zi mei

2. Promo Gill

3. Starter Akuma

4. Jon herr

5. Realm of midnight Felicia

Zi mei- What can I say? Death and evil and fire is a brilliant lineup ( death) shes' a Female, problem committal, free damage bonus and promotes Aggro. Perfect, the best character in the game hands down IMO.

Promo Gill- 8Hs with death and uhhh... good :P 8Hs is 8HS

Starter Akuma- while he might struggle for a kill condition now he still is probably the strongest charcter as far as being a charcter alone is concerned.

Jon herr- Can you say consistency?

Felicia- Uber aggro and Feline spike is Feline spike.

Your lists would be really appreciated guys

Thanks

Now useless Hanzo

P.S Yeah i did Copy and paste :P

In no particular order:

1) Gill/Leona (I lump these two together because it's more correct to say 8-handsize is one of the strongest, and pretty much every symbol on either of them is playable, anyone who thinks Life isn't will be proven wrong)

2) Akuma - He's still a redonkulously good character off any of his symbols, the bans didn't hurt him enough to cripple him.

3) Mignon/Tira - These two will be able to front Air Aggro better than anyone else.

4) Hilde/Raphael - Most of their biggest obstacles have been removed, they're gonna clean up.

5) Zi Mei - The one with Death. Free damage pump and commital possibilities, yeah she'll do well.

Honourable mention:

Felicia - Because Spike is Spike and she's gonna have Yi Shan's babies.

Hanzo - Because he does really well with Earth Aggro.

JJ - Because damage reduction on EVERY attack is just silly.

Anybody that ross decides to play

Anybody that matt h decides to play

Any body that the colchester lot decide is good enough to run

Yer that about sums it up

JJ gets an honourable mention for his FORM?! Haha!

I keep telling you it's a good ability : )

And Tuesday obviously didn't see the awful aggro deck I played in Alton.... gui%C3%B1o.gif

Hey you should see Antigoth's JJ deck, he makes good use of it with Hilde's cards!

Anyways, My top 5 consist of:

5) Anything built off Earth. Hanzo or Leona are good examples for huge hand size, effects wise it goes to Yi-Shan or the once again awesome Sagat. Mainly due to the commit defense in Torn Hero/Dormant for millions of years, and Throws now that Rivals is gone. Earth has always been awesome in terms of offense and defense, just not much else. The bans have made this simple style even better. Oh yeah, Sardine's Beach Special is now the 1-shot kill of the game, by the way.

4) 7+HS characters off Fire (Akuma, Zi Mei, Blanka, Guy). These guys dont need to worry about Rejection any more, and a good string of the Rights combo plus a helluva lot of damage pumps would kill more often than not.

3) Rapahel/Hilde. Been mentioned already, simply Good aggro and good at it (scuse the pun).

2) Chaos Nagase. Going more specific here, Nagase has her own momentum gain, damage redux, and combined with Chaos's "I dump your hand into your momentum" cards, her attacks are going hit. And if it's a Fire Kick, then it'll hit hard.

1) Sakura. Pure hand control at it's best. With access to her F, The Bigger they Are, Aquakinesis, and then void cards like TWOP, Glare, and Saikyo-Ryu, Sakura's always going to have a hand when you don't. I'm also thinking of playing her with Sardine's Beach Special and Tenacious.

I'm interested by the split opinions on Gill now. Most of our overseas friends seem to think he's not so great as he's basically a vanilla 8/20, but I'm still inclined to say that the extra hand size is better than most abilities. Before the first set on bannings I was planning on making Gill. After Spiral Arrow was reported to be on the next banlist I was still planning on making Gill. But after this set of bannings I might go back to JJ (which in a way is kind of strange, because he stood a lot more chance against Chun Li than Gill did). I've also been tempted by Seong Mi-Na because even with Lord of the Makai gone, she still has an incredibly strong first ability and is very difficult to beat through.

Without Rejection and Feline Spike around, I've also been coming around to the idea of JJ's Form ability being quite good as attack chains might (unbelievably) make a comeback. But then again, he does have low vitality as well. On the other hand, his React also hits a whole bunch of problem characters like Sakura, stopping her from outcontrolling; Hilde, potentially destroying her entire win condition, and Akuma (although you have to pick between stopping his hacks in his turn, stopping his hacks in your turn, or stopping his ridiculous Commit ability if you're lucky enough to not have it played on a Heel Snipe).

It's hard to call a top 5 so soon after the bans, but I still have to think it's going to be Order characters on top. While Sakura's always been incredibly strong in my books, it's always been her symbols that let her down. This was fine when there were a bunch more broken cards in the format, but now I'd struggle building a deck of good cards out of her symbols combined.

Akuma's obviously still amazing, especially with Heel Snipe. Don't lose hope Mark. Hilde can set up some ridiculously quick kills - it's probably between her and Felicia for the strongest aggro deck left because Feline Spike is, well, Feline Spike. Someone mentioned Blanka - he's blatantly going to be strong when Power of the Edge is legal again.

Sardine's Beach Special is pretty decent. Thanks for pointing that out Ricky. That's definitely a reason to play those symbols with Rejection gone.

Finally, I have to agree with Mark - the characters don't honestly matter too much except in some extreme cases (like Chun-Li). It's the way the deck is built and the way it is piloted that matters the most by far in this game. And until I'm proven wrong, I'd say the format is as wide open as it has been in quite a long time, so there are a lot of characters out there with potential.

I'm agree with you JJ about Gill, hand size in most of CCG is the engine to have good deck.

And I think a lot of character have some potential when they are good pilot, it's just "overpowered" when anybody pilot a "strong" character. A kind of psychologic war when you're opponent reveal his character.

But if I have to make a Top 5 I choose without hesitation:

- Akuma: Well I play him since it release, and I saw a lot of support for him according to the release of promo and/or set. With Heel Snipe (rediculous attack) couple with his stupid E, it's really hard to manage something. And the loss of Tiger Fury is sad but we'll find something to play.

- Hilde: good/fire aggro possibility

- Donovan Death/order

- Aggro Zi mei

- Sakura
