a compiled rulebook?

By DarwinGreen5, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Does anyone know of an edited rulebook that factors in the Advanced and optional rules? Currently the current rulebook is really awkward despite its small size.

If they were to release a compendium that included the Core Rules, Tournament Rules, and F.A.Q., it would make the latter two more difficult to update.

Stick with the .PDFs of those three, and you'll be golden anyway :)

I didn't check this very closely for accuracy, but this site tends to keep good rules compendiums:

It looks like the X-Wing one was updated in January, so it won't have anything added by S&V ships.

I was thinking of having the CORE rulebook compiled. With the optional rules and advanced rules interspliced with the main rules.

like, having damage modifiers included in the damage section. And, maybe a side note about secondary weapons not getting dice modifiers due to range and stuff like that.

I agree it would be good to have everything in one place. There are four places rules come from: the printed rulebook, system-specific rulecards, the tournament rules, and the FAQ. The FAQ is pretty high on the list, priority-wise, because it does some collecting of its own and because it's the only source of updates and errata, but you still can't find all tournament-specific rules changes in it.

That said, the things you give examples of aren't optional or advanced rules. Range modifiers are part of the basic rules of the game, and they're already in the rulebook. Nothing in the core rulebook is optional or advanced. The Quickstart rules are not the baseline. They are an extra-simple intro version.

ok, for this newbie, is there a place were all the upgrade cards are compiled??

There's a wiki here:

http://xwing-miniatures.wikia.com/wiki/X-Wing_Miniatures_Wiki

or alternatively just type "x-wing squad builder" into your search engine of choice - or check your smartphones app download service.

You'll find any number of excellent applications which contain all of the available pilots and upgrades and their descriptions.

Plus you'll be able to play around building squads with them

I'd be more interested in errata/FAQ corrected rules and cards.
