Trollfens: Ghost Town - Revealed Slain Villager

By StefvW, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hey guys,

In the Trollfens' quest: Ghost Town:

Whenever a "revealed slain villager" has already been corrupted by the Overlord (so there's a fatigue token on it and at the start of the Overlord's next turn it could become a minion flesh moulder), can the heroes still investigate that "revealed slain villager" and when passing claim the objective token?

Or are they no longer able to investigate, since the Overlord has already claimed that "revealed slain villager", and so the "revealed slain villager" has now become a "corrupted slain villager"?

Thanks!

I do not think the heroes can investigate corrupted villagers, as that would remove them from the map, and prevent the OL from replacing them during the next turn.

I disagree. As long as the villager is on the map and his token has been turned to the other side it can be removed either by being corrupted at the start of the overlords turn or by being investigated by a hero. Nothing in the quest description states that a villager mustn't be corrupted to be investigated.

After looking through the special rules again, I think you may be right- that's probably the better way to play, RAW.

My first interpretation when reading the quest was also that heroes would still be able to investigate... would also bring more dynamics in the quest I guess

Tricky part is that you could also argue that a "revealed slain villager" at that point has become a "corrupted slain villager" as that term is mentioned in the quest guide... and that therefore the heroes are not able to investigate a "corrupted slain villager".

We're playing the quest for the first time tonight and I think the way we decide to interpret this will have quite an impact on balance. Not sure which interpretation would work best balance-wise..

But we'll go with your call, I agree that there's nothing specifically stated on it not being a "revealed slain villager" anymore...

Thanks!
