Curiosity concerning Control: a Query.

Just after wave 4 came out, I ran my stressy cow build "mama said stress you out"

Soontir with PTL

2 x Omicron shuttles with adv sensors, gunner, tactician and engine upgrade

Took them to 2 tournaments and went 3 wins out of 6 in each tournament.

Phantoms shut me down hard, Fel helped, but putting a few extra toys on him would have been nice. Against low pilot skill ships I pretty much destroyed them. when you set up in opposite corners people dont expect to be flanked by 2 shuttles by the second turn, which was incredibly fun :D

One game my opponent was running Jan Ors, Cracken and a swarm of bandits. I had flanked him by the second turn, and a few turns later poor Jan had 7 stress tokens on her! (I'd kept rolling blanks and focus on my first shot, honest!).

I really rate stress as control, but I mainly play imperial and its hard to fit it in there.

My current Imperial "stress" build is:

Oicunn w/Determination, Reb. Captive and Engine

2 x Omicron w/Tactician, FCS

25-3 with it on and offline including a Winter Tournament win and Top 8 SC

Another query: this time helping me build a list.

I want to run BBYY Control.

B-Wings with B-Wing/E2 and Tactician

Y-Wings with Ion Cannon

That leaves me 4 leftover points.

Should I run:

  • Flechette Cannons on the B-Wings, potentially dealing 2 stress per attack
  • Fire Control Systems on the B-Wings, increasing my damage?
  • R7 Astromechs on the Y-Wings, increasing my overall defense?
  • R3-A2 and R5-K6 on my Y-Wings, assuming that the latter has BTL-A4 and is therefore not a waste of points?
  • R2/R5 Astromechs on the Y-Wings, and Enhanced Scopes on the B-Wings, giving extra Mobility/Defense to the Ys and Blocking Potential to the Bs?
  • Seismic Charges to the Y-Wings, through Bomb Loadout?
  • Any of the above with BTL-A4?

Here's my suggestion for you

It's not a BBYY but I think you may find this fun

Blue + FCS + E2 + Tactician ( The FCS will help keep your damage output high. I found that I often had to Barrel Roll to keep the R2.)

Gold + R3-A2 + Ion Turret + BTL-A4 ( This ship can now double tap stress a high priority Target)

Blount + Deadeye + Ion Pulse Missile ( This will let you lock down a big ship. This will be very handy against an hard target like the IG2000, or Dash. It will keep big ships from Kiting you.)

Lack of practice is part of my issue, but dash has absolutely wrecked me so far, I may have to give that variant a try.

I ran it twice against the same 3E list, and went 100/0 both times. My opponent was good, but both of us will admit that his actual triple E-Wing list is weak. His was meant as a fun list, not a tournament list. My list was designed to let me play with toys I hadn't played with before.

Being able to make my opponent do exactly what I wanted him to do, over and over again, was amazing. Seeing Y-Wings punch through 3 dice defenses over and over again was more fun than I can stand.

Something my opponent and I came to realize: When facing Warthogs, do _not_ attack them head on. You want to come at them from behind, at the sides, or at range 3.

Honestly, I just don't dig the Firespray in Imperial lists. IMHO, it should have been 'Scum' from the get-go, and 'Scum', only.

Still, that does have some possibilities given the tactician's ability to be used forward and rear on the Firespray...
