A few rules questions... weapons, attachments, and non-sentience

By El_Tonio, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

During a campaign, how do you handle a hero having two weapons? Do they have to pick one for a given scenario, can they just switch back and forth between the two at any time, something else?

Can heroes switch attachments to a new weapon once they've been attached to an initial weapons? There is stuff about attachments and imperial figures in the RRG, but I could not find anything about heroes and attachments.

Can a figure give an "order," "executive order," or "general's order" to a friendly Nexu even though it is non-sentient? Seems like this would be possible since it's possible to train non-sentient animals, but I wanted to check to be safe.

Thanks in advance for your help!

1) Heroes choose which weapon they want to use on a per attack basis. A hero is limited to 2 weapons maximum in a mission, and must choose which weapons he/she is bringing before the mission starts.

"Item Cards", RRG, Page 15:

If a hero brings 2 weapons to a mission, when he declares his attack, he must choose 1 of the weapons to use for that attack.

There is no limit to the number of Item cards a hero can have; however, each hero is limited in what he can bring to an individual mission: 1 Armor ®, 2 Weapons, and 3 Equipment (S).

-- If a hero exceeds this limit after deploying his hero to the map, he must choose which cards to leave behind. Place the chosen cards aside; they cannot be used during this mission. These cards are returned to the player at the end of the mission.

2) Item Modifications can be swapped between items outside of missions. They cannot be changed during a mission.

"Item Modifications", RRG, Page 16:

When a hero purchases an Item card, and before each mission, heroes may attach any of their modifications to other Item cards. Heroes may also choose to remove modifications from their Item cards and keep them in their play area unattached. Abilities on modifications that are not attached to Item cards cannot be used.

While resolving a mission, modifications cannot be attached to or removed from Item cards.

3) Yes, Non-Sentients can receive orders. Being Non-Sentient doesn't mean they cannot be commanded. They just cannot interact to open doors, or anything in a mission/skirmish that requires an "interact".

Sit, Ubu, sit. Good dog. Woof.

Make sure you watch how many attachments can be added to a particular item, as well. Most of the starting items have only one attachment slot.

Thanks for the answers and to pointing me in the right direction in the RRG!
