Is Worlds an "open" tournament?

By Reinman, in X-Wing

Hi all,

I live in Minnesota and am definitely planning on attending Worlds this year. My question is Would I also be able to play? I've never competed in a Store or Regional Championship, and I know winners of those events get a "bye" at the next level, but how does it work for everyone else? Could I simply register and play at Worlds, or is it more complicated than that?

Thanks!

Yes, it's a public tournament. You have to most likely pre-register, but anyone can play.

Last year it cost $20 or $25 and you had to sign up before the event started. But yes as Deltmi said it's open to anyone, you don't need to win a Store or Regional game to go to Worlds.

Awesome. Can't wait!

If you can go, I highly recommend it. It's a lot of fun, and you have a chance to play against people from all over the world. The competition is tough, but there's lots of friendly players there.

Its nice to have worlds in our back yard (also a MN local). Last year was my first year, it was alot of fun, if not for the 6 falcons in 7 games,;) . but it was a good time, and also the weekend has plenty of xwing all weekend long.

I plan to go this year. First time! Hope to be in both the X-Wing and SWLCG tourneys.

Regionals will be starting in several weeks, and there may be a few store championships left in your area. Try to make it to some of these because they are good practice for the all-day tournaments like Worlds.

One more Store Championship in the Twin Cities Metro at Level Up Games in St Paul this Saturday. I'm TOing. Feel free to PM me for details.

Highly recommend you go if you can. Met a bunch of wonderful people, played against some crazy good players, and enjoyed the hell out of the weekend with 16 games over 3 straight days.
