Proofs of Purchase

By Funkleton, in X-Wing

I've just being going through my x-wing stuff to have a bit of a re-organise - put all my excess tokens etc into an old organiser box I found - and I've noticed that I'm missing the proofs of purchase tokens from my Falcon and Slave 1 set.

Now I'm a little retentive so I rarely throw game components away - and definitely never a PoP - so apart from maybe the odd focus token I've dropped in my LGS, everything else is 100% complete right down to the original boxes and inserts that come with the blisters.

So before I climb up into the loft to check the storage boxes I've put the old packaging in, I'm wondering maybe if the PoPs for the Falcon and Slave were packaged or presented differently.

Also, do PoPs serve any purpose?

No purpose I'm aware of. Not like the good old days when you could buy a pile of GI Joes and send in the points or whatever from the packages to get a free VHS :D

The Falcon and Firespray (and all other large base ships) have a cardboard punch out for their proof of purchase.

Your TO should ask to see the PoP for every ship in your fleet to prevent counterfeit ships showing up in Tournaments. It usually doesn't happen, but if you have an upgrade that comes from a ship that you are not playing with you should technically need the PoP for the ship that the upgrade came with. They are super important don't throw them away! /s

My hope is that at some point they will create an online version of the game. You could then send in your POPs to unlock the ships in the online game. In future sets and reprints they could just include codes.

In that case they are definitely missing

weird that I would be so OCD about every little component but manage to lose these 2 PoPs

You made my day with that one.

Suddenly my retentive hoarding compulsions don't seem that bad at all

That post scared the hell out of me. Now my local TO is going to find out all my counterfeit ships :o

once you collect 200 proof of purchase tokens take them and 15 bucks for shipping and handling to your LGS and get a FREE tie fighter... :P

The proof of purchase may be on the insert for the Slave 1 and Falcon. Check there first.

oh thank god :P

before anyone asks, I got into miniature gaming through 40k. I know there exist systems where arbitrary bull at every possible level is the norm

Just for those who are freaking out about throwing away their PoPs, this is the universal internet signature for sarcasm :P

"I don't have the Proof of Purchase with me..."

*waves hand* ...you don't need to see my proof of purchase.

Not all PoPs are cardboard cutouts. They are printed in the instruction manuals for the respective ship. I did the same thing, searched my boxes and baggies then opened the manuals and saw it printed there.

please don't shoot your friendly neighborhood TOs :(

unless they work for Jabba, then you gotta remember to shoot first

For small ships, yeah, since they only get 2 sheets of cardboard. Large/Huge have the cutout.

Can't see one in the Force Awakens core set either
