Skirmish List - Modified Imperial Meta List...

By macmastermind, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Opinions, please...

I have modified the 'winning' imperial list (Vader, 2x Stormtroopers, Royal Guard, Imperial Officer), removing the officer and troopers both and including the elite Trandoshians and a standard Probe Driod (also the 1-cost faction-mixing card).

Vader (18)

Elite Trandos (10)

Royal Guards (8)

Probe Droid (3)

Alliance (1)

The elite Trandos are sick. I was able to kill Vader with some help from the 'Pierce 3' command card, then 2 attacks with their auto-3-damage, regardless of roll and defense. The probe droid held a terminal for me, but he doesn't move very fast. Second game of course, opponent went for the Trandos really fast and they didn't have a chance to attack (granted I moved them out too quick, but)...

Obviously fewer figures means easier to lose the game, but they're just so strong. Tell me what you all think of this for a tourney. Still go with the troopers/officer meta list? We've got a tourney on 4/4 - I was hoping to bring the pain. LOL

Thx

It's hard to say. It seems like you'll do much better vs Vader and the RGC (both of whom you need to take into account), but some of the squads with more Deployment Cards could cause you problems, since they'll be able to wait you out before committing their forces, which will mean you start the combat rounds with more damage on your figures. The question will then be whether or not the Trandos can put out enough damage before they die in order to be worthwhile. I really do like the idea, so I'd be interested to know how it plays out. Maybe test it on Vassal before your tournament? I'm always interested in playing, when I can.

Maybe drop the Probe Droid for an Imperial Officer? That would allow you to put Vader where you need him more easily, which would allow for the Brutality and Force Choke combo more often. That will leave you with 1pt free, which will help you get initiative and choose your preferred starting location more often.

I agree with TINT

A few things the build above not sure it has enough guys to battle and take on missions think the min needs to be 7+ for characters and 5 for deployment cards.

As cool as Vader is think Trandos would do better in a RGC because he has bleed even though vader has choke.

I think RGC, reg Trandox2, RG, Officer, Tempo is a better build for trandos if you want to go with Imperials.

Is Scum viable on its own? I was thinking the only real option was to splash them...

Splashing is the way to go just dont a four act team will low number of characters is the way to go. I could be wrong because I think reg Trandos and vader is a good build since they are in a Vader build they will be the targets because of cost of them and they arent hard to kill but are a pain.

I think once the packs come out it where will be an options.

I've been fooling around with Vader and Trandos. It's a lot of fun, positioning becomes key. Make sure you place your Trandos so Vader can get off double swings in order for your opponents to hit the hunters.

Scum is more than viable assuming you plan to ally in some Rebels =).

Agreed. Especially IG-88. Without the focus from Gideon, he feels either slightly over-costed or slightly under powered. (And possibly both, since the need for Gideon means he comes with a 4 point tax, putting him one point more than RGC with less consistent damage.)

I haven't run it yet, but I'd be curious to see how/if Rebel Saboteurs boost a Scum list. They would provide some much-needed anti-swarm punch, even if RY dice are a bit of a gamble. I can't wait to see what their Elite version looks like. (Assuming, like the Troopers, they get one in their box.)

Funny you should mention IG-88. I actually feel he is incredibly difficult to fit into a main-Scum list. I've seen him be much more nasty allied into Imperials than as a focus of a Scum-based list.

If your build has a nexu or two I think Han is the better play because Cunning+Distracting is annoying. Gideon with Han is one of the best depth shooters in the game. I really think Nexu, Han Gideon is a sick start to a build when we get more stuff. Also if the Rebels ever get another cunning person wow.

I am on fence with IG88 and really dont like him because he needs surge to really be good.

With this all being said The two man Merc builds I am playing are Trando builds with Han,IG88 or Luke as the +10 pt attacker.

As for splashing I think IG88 is good in a imperial build also thinking adding Nexu or Trans with support and acts is good in a Imperial build too.

IG-88 benefits a lot from being near Royal Guards is the main reason I've liked him in Imps. Recover 3 gets wayyy more annoying when you have an innate +2 blocks + Black Dice.
