More Feedback Swarms Explored

By phild0, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I like the idea of the 7xBinarye + Feedback Array swarm, but I don't think I will run it for multiple reasons.

1) it takes 4 Most Wanted packs(need templates and pilot cards for 7 Binarye Pirates), and 4 IG2000 purchases just to field, and if I want to run it in more than one event, I couldn't just borrow ships and cards EVERY time, so a purchase would have to be made.

2) i think it will be too weak to BBBBZ, since all PS1 could mean way too many PS kills to compensate for the 2 additional ships. Not to mention FA is not AS useful against B Wings.

3) it'd be nice to have multiple ship types, adding some variety to the squads.

For these reasons, I have come up with the following squads:

Black Sun Syndicate

----------------------------

Black Sun Soldier + Feedback Array (FA)

Black Sun Soldier + FA

Black Sun Soldier + FA

Black Sun Soldier + FA

Syndicate Thug + Autoblaster Turret

Syndicate Thug + Autoblaster Turret

100pts

For all intensive purposes, on a Y Wing, the Autoblaster turret is BASICALLY the same thing as the Feedback Array, just with no AUTO (though you'll average 1 hit) damage and no damaging a bumped enemy, though with perks like 2 potential damage and no self ion and self damage. Overall, I would consider the Syndicate + Autoblaster turret to be equivalent to a Syndicate + Feedback Array, if not slightly better.

This squad helps shore up all of the issues I outlined, and does it with some improved durability and flexibility. I'm a big fan of this squad over all. I drop 1 Binarye for a PS 1 blocker though. And maybe I'll get stupid and put the BTL-A4 title on the Y wings...

But wait, this archetype can be expanded on:

Spice Runner Feedback Swarm:

-------------------------------------------

Spice Runner + Ion Turret + Feedback Array (Or can be Syndicate + Ion Turret, but I like 5 FA's)

Spice Runner + Ion Turret

Binarye + FA

Binarye + FA

Binarye + FA

Binarye + FA

Ion control mixed in with the FA makes for a fun squad to play, and all PS 1 is pretty nice. Maybe not as strong as the first squad, but there are always merits of PS1 blockers and things.

Though I think we can combine some of these ideas, maybe add Torkhil Mux...

Mux Feedback Swarm

------------------------------

Torkhil Mux + Ion Turret

Syndicate Thug + Autoblaster Turret

Binarye + FA x 4

Still get to use an autoblasting Y Wing AND get to snag PS kills with Mux, I can dig it. There are obviously other ways to build Mux into a FA swarm though that might be better.

But wait, Y Wing can carry bombs...and I mean, these squads are all about automatic damage...

Bomb Pirate Syndicate

-------------------------------

Syndicate Thug + Autoblaster Turret + Bomb Loadout + Seismic Charge + "Genius"

Syndicate Thug + ABT + BL + Seismic Charge

Binarye Pirate + FA x 4

Drops the Black Sun soldiers to Binarye Piratea to add some bombing fun. If only "Genius" astromech wasn't unique!

I like all of these ideas, and thought I would share them, though sometimes I am loathe to give away my ideas, but others are bound to have come up with them already.

Dont unerstand having Genius without an engine upgrade

For all intensive purposes ...

Kind of like french benefits?

if you have genius its a must to get engine upgrade otherwise youre nuking yourself with that range 1 bomb. also i like to think that the Ywing manuvered dropped the bomb then gave the finger to his enemy as he boosts away

Dont unerstand having Genius without an engine upgrade

Trading a hit point on a 22 point Ywing for a hit point on almost anything else in the game is an excellent trade.

Xizor + four blacksun feedbacks is very legit. From what I've played, it's very consistent and very powerful

Only problem is that it also loses consistently to double aggressors, just like every feedback array mini-swarm would. ******* Zs are so wonderful against every ship in this game except this one derpy robot that exists in the weird nether region of "haha, your sh*tty two dice can't hit 3 agility" and "haha, I'm at B-wing health, *******!"

Agreed and agreed. The Double Aggressor squad is a definite counter to 2 Dice gun squads. There are some shenanigans the swarm can play with blocking and things, but it is not easy to make damage stick, and Feedback Array does not help you out very much to counter that matchup. If it was a 3 agility ship with 3 hp though...that's another story.

Do any of you have much experience with Genius? The times I've had it I never really used it and just deployed the bomb normally. I didn't really use engine upgrade either. I guess it wouldn't be bad if you were going to have an engine upgrade on the y-wing already.

Oh, for sure :D

******* love the little scum Zs, because they're just...I mean it's just beautiful the world of difference a little 2 point upgrade can do. Being able to scare Soontir goddamn Fell with a sh*tty little 15 point ship is just astounding, as is the gameplay that centers around giving no ***** in order to set up crazy Feedback array bubbles ^_^

Now, if it helps, I did play against another feedback list with Soontir and double Defenders, with Defenders being an interesting sort-of "mini-Aggressor," and the arrays were still pretty effective. The list was super Kath (ptl, k4 droid thing, engine) N'dru (lone wolf + hot shot) and two bugzapper pirates. While I didn't agree with N'dru, the combination of super Kath just eviscerating **** with her butt set up even Defenders for easy feedback fodder and I lost both of them to it, only ecking out a win with a direct damage afflicted Soontir (because stealth device farted out four blanks against N'dru's hotshot, forever re-affirming that I chose the right ******* name).

With Defenders being only a hull and a shield behind the aggressor and much cheaper (relative to the 50 point super aggressors) to boot, it surprised me how deadly the feedbacks still were. On the other hand, Aggressors are also fucktons faster than Defenders. While I've found my Soontir + double Defender to be surprisingly capable of taking on and wiping out double Aggressors (Especially with flechette cannons on the deltas ), the game turns into a Benny Hill sketch the moment only one Aggressor remains in play. Soontir can sort of catch it, but even the 5-straight bearing defenders can't keep up.

To summarize, Kath's well endowed...rear-arc might pump out enough damage to make feedbacks relevant against Aggressors, but I'm not sure you'll still ever be able to pin one down
