rules for suspected cheating?

By Cabae, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So what can you do if you feel someone has modified there game components to give them an advantage over another player?

I understand that a player can request that only 1 set of templates be used but that's as far as it goes....

What can a player do if they suspect that dice have been modified or that bases have been changed? I wonder why the FAQ or Tournament rules have nothing to say on this...

The Tournament Rules state that you can only customize bases to add weight or colour them. You can't alter the size or shape and you can't touch the dice at all.

If you suspect an opponent has done something illegal to his equipment, call the TO and have him inspect the components in question. The TO can disallow them and take further action from there.

Borrow your opponent's dice when it's your turn to roll?

Modified how? Weighted dice? Smaller baseS? And did you think an opponent was doing this or

just a hypothetical?

well the rules don't state you are aloud to play with the opponents dice only their templates. and what can a TO do to inspect dice? asking for someone to see if dice roll to well seems like a slow play to me.

Depends on the method of dice-cheating.

Weighted dice can be tested with a tall glass of water and just a few drops into it.

Shaved dice can be tested with a template.

Magnetic dice can be tested with a magnet.

One of our group found he ended up with somebody elses die one day when it went zooming into a magnet at home! :o

Everybody should start carrying a magnet to tournaments! ;)

Its a surprisingly common way to weight dice :P

How do you get a magnet or piece of metal into a die without leaving any apparent markings on the outside?

Same way you add weights

Drill into the pips of the die (in this case, Hits and Focii), deposit your leavings, then cover in a resin of the appropriate color.

It's already a depression in the die, so your paintjob will be protected.

Ok, here's the next question; weighted dice in a tall glass or glass w/water??

shaved dice tested how?? a template?

I got the magnetic dice. I've seen those b4. The guy left the area quick, fast and in a hurry.

I'm kind of amazed at the lengths people go to just to increase their chances of winning a game with plastic toys.

Not as easy as it is with normal dice.

You want to get weight on the blank side. And you cannot drill on the blank side. So you have drill all the way from the focus/evade/hit to the other side of the die and push the metall/magnet all the way down.

About the testing: Spin the die. And you will see if it has weights on one side.

I wonder whatever happened to that guy who had the weird holes in the evade dice symbols and that funky way of rolling. All we ever saw was a short video and a blurry picture of the dice. There was a bit of uproar at the time, but nothing since.

I was just thinking the same thing

Hang on. I thought that's how you checked to see if you were in someone else's dream?

lmao

Who the heck would go to these lengths to cheat at this game? Really? Didnt know millions of dollars were at stake here...

It's not like folks are irradiating the damage decks to know what comes next...

Heck, many of our fellow Model Customizers already have all of the tools required to cheat the dice, and rolling techniques are free.

Of course, I'll allow my opponent to wind up cheating IF they're running Han Solo with Lando crew. It's just too flavorful :D

People will cheat at monopoly that they are playing in thier own house.
