Decimater + Experimental Interface

By Panda Warlord, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm a fairly new player so apologies if I'm missing something obvious or this has been discussed to death before (couldn't find anything on search)

The Decimater build of Chiraneau + Expose, Experimental Interface, Isard, Rebel Captive seems pretty solid. Comes out 60 pts leaving enough for a decked out phantom.

I slung it together as my "no more joking arround" list and it did the job of losing me friends as intended. Subsequently, I took a sneaky look at the lists for a local tournament and exactly that build did really well.

However when flying it Experimental interface and Isard, together they seemed a pretty bad use of points. The lock, expose action combo is nice but when you stress Isard's ability doesn't happen. It adds versatility to either be more durable or really guarantee heavy damage but there are some other useful places to spend the points.

Darth Vader: It's a great upgrade for those hard to hit ships. Also opens up the option of dropping Expose as well.

Engine Upgrade: Utility is pretty clear on this one.

Tactician (probably for phantom): On the decimater it forces targets to range 1 or 3 and it's not easy to avoid range 2 anyway.

I don't want to be too drastic in adjusting the list or the Decimater build; it's working after all, it just feels a little clunky. I can of course test by myself but it's tough to get an acurate feel for how it will actually play and I don't think my friends will be too thrilled with me constantly pitching minor variations of this list in friendly games. So I want to this down which options to consider.

Are any of these upgrades, or any others, worth dropping Experimental Interface or Issard for?

You're actually doing it in the wrong order. Interface doesn't have to trigger off your "normal" action. Any action is sufficient, including Isard's.

So you move, perform your normal action (if possible), then when the Combat phase starts Isard lets you perform a free Evade action. That triggers Interface, which lets you activate Expose. You may then proceed to lay the hurt on the target of your choice, perform a green move next round, and repeat the process.

Wow... that does change things.

Thanks!

I have been looking at Decimators with experimental interface as well. I have tried a few lists with them and this is one i have had a good time with

100 points

Chiraneau

Expose

Experimental interface

Oicunn

Intimidation

Navigator

I have also switched out navigator or before with Anti pursuit lasers because they seem to work well with Oicunn
