I don't get the opportunity to play a lot of X-wing and have never played on Vassal until this weekend, but have been on the forums a lot and have had good experiences at my local game store. I'm definitely a casual player and fly what I like (and usually end up losing) but I always have a lot of fun and have heard great things about the X-wing community and the general spirit of fly casual. I had my first Vassal game and was really impressed with the support on the forums and my first opponent, Gary, was great. The poor guy had to put up with my noob questions for two hours, but he was a great sport and never got upset with all of the mistakes I made. I had a lot of fun even though my Hawk lost its ion cannon turret to a crit and flew my awing with an unused procket off the map for a very anti-climatic finish. I just want to say thanks for all of the great posts and helpful tips and this awesome community that has embraced the spirit of fly casual.

I don't fly often, but when I do, I fly dos XX (with three Z's). Fly casual my friends!

Though, I haven't played with many of these people, most of them are names I recognize on the forums and are upstanding members of the community here.

Even if you find just one person on there that makes you have fun, then it's a success in my book!

I'm surprised you've found people who aren't noob friendly. At least I haven't encountered them. I imagine some of the Team Covenant Aces could be pretty competitive, but beyond that I've never seen anyone with an attitude. Some people want to enforce all the rule perfectly which is fine and they tend to do it in the nicest way possible (that text in a chat box will allow).

Anyways, I'll play you and we'll have a jolly good time. I put up with new players BS if they put up with my need to deal with screaming children.
